**** Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Thread ****

The i7 must be either:

i7-6560U or i7-6650U

Based on the i5 having Intel® HD Graphics 520

Puts it to either:

i5-6200U or i5-6300U

Based on the TDP of 15W and the type of Graphics mentioned.

Don't you find it strange as to why they are being so secretive with the CPU spec details? It's infuriating and totally unnecessary now that the product has been announced.

Looks like the i5 model is the i5-6300U, confirmed on 'UK purple computer place' site.

The i7 will be a powerhouse but the price is starting to run away with itself and I can't justify it. If I'm to go for a SP4, I think the i5 will be a good balance of power, battery run time and value.

Don't find it strange, for some reason they've never listed CPU model.
It is however annoying waiting for tear down or 3rd party seller to list it.

Do you guys reckon the 17 SP4 will perform close to the on stage demo for Adobe premier editing?

I edit casually every now and then, and was mighty impressed with what I saw there on stage and would love that kind of real time editing with no processing time they showed.

So they do as well, I was expecting the 6200U but nice to see they went with the nicer i5.

So I guess we can expect the SP4 to arrive around the 12th November? A long wait...

Can you get this on student discount? Also as I didn't follow the SP3 prices. Are these standard prices only they seem just a little high. Maybe £200 more than I would like to spend considering they dont come with a keyboard.

Definitely keen on an i7/256GB/8GB RAM Surface Pro 4... shame that it's not out until December though :-(

Would also want to buy from somewhere that has a longer standard warranty, especially if everywhere will be selling at RRP anyway.

Hopefully John Lewis will have them in for release - 2 year guarantee at the very least, possibly 3 years as some laptops/tablets are currently with a 3 year guarantee.
Gonna go for a i5/8GB/256GB myself.

I forgot to check before I preordered, does the SP4 come with the pen? Not that I really need it, but was curious what usually comes with the SP.

Comes with pen and power supply. Probably has a trial version of Office 365 loaded as well.

Thanks. Seems the trial only lasts 30 days but I don't really need full blown Office, Google docs and keep does enough for my job.

Bit strange they include the pen but not the keyboard... It feels like it should be the other way round.

Significantly too many variants. All the languages and layouts. Plus you'd be stuck with one colour.

Also they want devs to make apps for the pen/touch - if everyone has the pen and some people don't have the type cover then that's your audience :p

Yet somehow all other manufacturers manage with different regions' layouts...even with their surface book, I'm sure they will cope ;)

It's just rationalising / making excuses for a required accessory because the fact is, they can include it....but then it will appear more expensive.
