Microsoft Surface RT Priced

You can't.

Well I guess you could have a go at using mklink and a junction point from Program Files\Windows Apps\ but I wouldn't hold out much hope of it working.

Well you can look at it that way, but no doubt it's locked down to make it secure and less open to being compromised.

It does need the option, and in time I'm sure we'll see it.

Well that's just stupid and limited.
Android lets you move app's to your SD card and you can install apps to your SD card.

They want to get rid of it. They did it so manufactures could keep internal memory tiny and keep costs down to advance the platform. Expect many of androids "advantages" to be removed in the coming few iterations.
Nexus devices don't even have sd card slots.

So, you think it's perfectly fine to hamper the end user by not allowing them to install programs to the SD card then Glaucus?

The Nexus not having an SD card has nothing to do with this.

Yes as it retains security.
It is as you said you can do it on android, android will be removing the feature.

What device and windows are you using?

If you have got yourself a surface, then to close an app just put a finger at the top and swipe to the bottom.
Or simply don't close it, there's no need to close apps, either to to the open app list and pic what you want or go back to start screen.

Android's removing the ability to install to SD card?
Where's the proof?

And you've got a very blinkered view.

It's an intentional limitation, and there's no way around it.

Blinkered?

Off course it's intentional, it's designed like that for a purpose. You can read all about it if you want, plenty of blog posts on why they designed windows as they did.

As for proof again read some blogs/analysis and look at their flagship models.

On a previous build I did some digging into where the apps were stored and their filesizes. IIRC they were pretty small maybe 20MB max.

It shouldn't be a problem short term on practically any machine, unless you have hundreds of apps or apps get more complex and filesizes increase significantly.

Like Steam have now introduced the option to install to a different drive, I'm sure MS will eventually put in an option to move the app directory.

Can you install directly to SD in Android now? Or is it still an install to internal memory and then move it later?

Also, lol at the no exit button and can't install to SD rants. People really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to moan about. Whats next, "Its rubbish because I don't like the Windows logo"?

Some games will install directly to the SD card if they're too big (Which, if you're using something like an Xperia Play, is most games)

Thats different though. The game will install to the phone, then when you run it it prompts for the larger download and saves this to the SD.

As far as I know anything you click 'Install' on in the market place will automatically install onto the internal memory. Unless someone can correct me?

Why does no one want the cover!? Isn't that like the coolest part

Price, wanting the touch cover, wanting a colour one. Isn't the ones which come as the deal only black. Or seeing how the device is before shelling out for it.

And many people will probably be using it purely like an ipad for media consumption and in that case you just don't need it.

Guess it saves £80, and I guess there was a lot of expectation they were going to be cheaper than they are. Or maybe they just didn't have as many of those allocated?

I pre ordered mine without a touch cover and even though I'd like one, they don't have red available for the UK yet and they are also fairly pricey, will get one later on down the road.
