Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Depends on how long you want to play the game. For my needs the standard edition is more than enough. I have zero interest in all the extras that comes with definitive edition personally. Just go look at the dlc and see if it interests you.

I bought the gold edition for some £11 I think, when the standard was £6.50 on CD Keys. Given I've spent a fair amount of time ingame I'd also say the standard version is more than enough. I've got 3 other bits of dlc content in the menus here but I seriously doubt I'll touch them. The base game alone has enough grindy fun.

Thanks both. Sounds like the standard edition will be plenty then. Cheaper too ;)

Finally completely finished the game. After doing the remaining siege missions I got the final ending.

Done a few online vendetta missions. Found @Kainz fortress online and stole his legendary orcs and killed his overlord defeating his fortress :p;)

Definitely feel like I am done now. Got more than my moneys worth. Although grindy, it was nearly always fun. Will give the game a 8.5 out of 10. If the story was better, it would have got a higher score. My final score:

Level = 57

Filthy thiefses! Do you remember what fortress it was? I've only really focused on building up the Nurn one but most of me good orcs (gained from vendettas/conquests) are currently in my garrison until I can be bothered deploying them. I am gaining better orcs faster than I can properly deploy them basically.

Not sure what level I am at (probably mid 60) but I finished the main questline last night after rushing it, the conclusion was quite amazing I thought! It'll be interesting where they go from here as I doubt Monolith will want to give up on the superb nemesis system they have at their disposal.

Since finishing the main mission I am back to doing Vendetta missions because they're so enjoyable. At some point I'll aim for the true ending objectives, which involves defending all of your fortresses a few more times or something to that end.

I would wholeheartedly agree on 8.5/10 too. The main Gondor missions are great, but I felt nothing for the other ones at all including Bruz's ones. I would have loved to have seen more of Ratbag in this game too.

Well, we wanteds them, we needids them, must have your precious legendary orcies :p

I believe it was nurn, it was pretty well guarded. Pretty much mainly legendary orcs around level 55 as I recall :)

I agree, the nemesis system is great! What I found underwhelming though is all the moves you unlock in this one, nothing new as far as I recall which stood out. Many of them I never bothered using. Wish there were more cool ones or less useless one's where you can use the skill points in upgrading the good one's or something.

Yeah, more ratbag would have been good. I also really liked him.

I've always loved the dark story and areas to these games. I need to get back into Shadow of War.

I have the first on pc also, there is no bringing over your old save file or anything like that.

Yeah, that was why I stuck to console. Though, I saw no nemesis coming over. I certainly didn't recognise any names. Wonder if it was because between both sides of the maps from Shadow of Mordor I had dominated all Captains and Warchiefs then never played it for a long time until Shadow of War hit.

The final credits for this game are incredibly touching. They did a huge tribute to that developer who passed away from cancer during the development of SoW and made him into an orc too!

I also have an SoM save on this PC and nothing imported over much to my surprise as I heard your main nemesis from that game was meant to appear in SoW.

I didn't get that either. Pash the Blade Master was mine in Shadow of Mordor. He was level 20 and killed him near the end battle in Shadow of Mordor. He lead the army the cheeky bugger. He never appeared in Shadow of War nor did the cheeky cook who kept coming back after the third time in Shadow of Mordor. Horrid fast runner he was.

That was the thing I loved about these games. Is reading everyones stories and encounters. They're all unique.

True. Though some of the less interesting orcs do talk a little too much sometimes. Wish you could press a button to tell them shut up and die. Lol.

lol this drove me mad half the time. I'd find a great orc with superb stats but when I encounter him he starts reciting the bible and all I want to do is add him to my ranks!

How does this compare to shadow of mordor? I picked it up in a bundle recently, been enjoying it, though only just started. Happy to wait for this to be in a good deal, or drop to a good price, but want to know if it's enjoyable (seems to be!).

More of the same for the most part as far as I remember mate.

This one took me a while longer to get into though. Keep an eye out for offers, I got it for around £6.50 as I recall :)

I've seen it around that price. I'm not in any rush, I'll keep playing this one, got batman arkham origins, may finish off far cry 5 and black flag too, so plenty to pass the time waiting for it to get to a silly price or included in a bundle :D. I'm sure I'll have a few rimworld runs in that time too.

Yeah. It will likely only get cheaper. I also do not rush to buy games unless I am ready to play these days. Lucky for me though I have been through pretty much all my steam library.

There are quite a few I need to revisit though, but I avoid them due to not having the kind of time I know they would require, like say something like Stellaris. I can sit to play that and next minute half the day could be gone! There is a cool Star Trek mod for that game I want to try some day :)
