Midweek Football *SPOILERS* 3/4 March

Come on dazza. You've done far better than you hoped for at the start of the season. And you never know, with Alonso's form this season you might get to keep Barry :p ;)

No doubt about that mate, I wanted top 6 tbh, but when you've got a real chance of breaking into the top 4 then you can't let simple games go. Stoke the other day for example. Ok, we've had our fair share of luck and this might be the beginning of the end of it, but Arsenal have far too much quality to keep letting points slip imo. I think they'll take 4th at this rate, and comfortably - we've got United and Liverpool away next, and we'll be lucky to take a point from either.

That was one of the worst performances I've seen united put in, Fletcher and O'shea's COMBINED pass completion rate must have been all of 2%.

Great pushing and pressure from Newcastle tonight, thought Smith was a real star in that midfield, fought for everything.

On the topic of Man Utd, the most invisible performance I've ever seen tonight from Fletcher, only time I noticed him was when he passed them the ball, he was godawful and that was easily his worst showing this season, O'Shea wasn't much better. Park was superb and Ronaldo looked a threat every time he touched the ball. Thought Newcastle got away with murder in that game. Awful tackle at the end from Jonas on Park, the forearm should have been a read from Taylor (he made up with it for our 2nd goal though), the elbow from Martins, Bassong running over Ronaldo in the box, although it was nice to see the referee let play move on, so I can't complain too much.

Not the most elegant win, but we've not really been blowing teams away, but we're grinding out points and that's what matters.

It's always dodgy when Fletcher and O'**** are in the same team, tonight was no different :/

Thank christ that is over. Abysmal overall but 3 points so I can't be arsed complaining. MOTD have a job on their hands tonight.

Park was superb .

No, he wasnt, he was bloody awful and let Jonas run riot past him all match (the only thing i can think he was on the pitch for) yes he got on to Taylors dodgy back pass, but really, the amount of the ball he wasted either running it out of play or just loosing possession, was criminal.

Smith was not a "star" in midfield, he just ran around and kicked people, their best player by a mile was that Argie on the wing; mind he was up agaisnt O`shea who apart from the work for the goal was not great.

Annoying when you consider Anderson, after 2 months out was probably the best player on the park in the Carling Cup final. The boy has more talent in his little finger than Darren '5 touches' Fletcher does in his whole body. I really don't understand why Anderson isn't starting, he has more physical presence, ability to pass first time, ability to pick the pass, pace, power and he can tackle too. Fletcher prances around like bambi with his 5 touches til he gets pressured then panics and passes it to the opposition - he really can't shift the ball quickly.
