Midweek Football *SPOILERS* 3/4 March

Dan Smith only got booked for that tackle. A shocking tackle, it was also in the 90th minute when they were getting beaten 3-0.

I'd like to see that changed first, when the referee gives a yellow when it should be red.

Smith should certainly have had a worse ban, but I've lost all sympathy with Diaby, he does the same thing jumping in lunging and catching people in the ankle almost every game he plays, he ruined Snjieders year with almost the same type of tackle.

But yes, the whole thing with either two yellows for a red being unchallengable(i think thats the case, screwing Carlton Cole as his first was never in a million years a yellow), also not being able to do anything about enforcing a worse punishment unless it was a red is ridiculous. You clearly can't use the argument of the ref deals with it, its physically impossible for the ref to see everything, and due to angles of tackles/fouls being viewed any ref can miss anything.

From one angle the Nolan tackle looks innocuous, from behind it looks disgraceful. Catermoles didn't look "too" bad from behind Parker, from behind Catermole you see a completely different story. You can't possibly expect a ref to see every tackle perfectly, its literally impossible, so ruling out taking action after a game in so many situations is ludicrous.

Erm? I hope you're taking the ****. He's a brilliant passer. His all round game is superb.

Of course, my apologises. He plays for UTD so he is the complete player who 'has the acceleration of the Millenium Falcon'- your words not mine!
For some reason you were hyping this guy before played a competitive game for UTD so obviously you have some bias towards him. When a player costs ~£15m I expect a little more from them and if he was with any other team so would they. However UTD are winning, without him, so it's not an issue.

If we're talking about Anderson he's pretty clumsy and his passing is far from brilliant :/ Good, but by no means brilliant. I need something to protect me from the Man Utd fans, help. Yes, I already know he's way better than Fabregas etc. in your opinions!

Not my words, words of a professional South American Sports writer for Soccernet.

I was hyping this guy because I followed him long before we signed him.

Fabregas isn't really a defensive midfielder either.

Fabregas is more a Scholes like player, controlling the tempo, spraying passes about. Anderson's a bit more all-action. The only thing he really needs to add at the moment is consistancy, and more accurate shooting! These will come the more he is played. I think we'll see him develop into a special player over the next few seasons. He'd already be a first choice player at most of the other premier league clubs.

Really? Beacause he hadn't even played 30 games before Man U and less than 20 in Europe.

Anderson is good but definitely overrated. Fabregas is streets ahead.

Yes, I had actually. At both Gremio and Porto.
Of course Fabregas is better, Fabregas has been playing in the EPL since 16. Anderson was a star of a midfield last season then has had problems with niggling injuries this year.

And for the record, neither are defensive midfielders.

Fabregas, maybe not, but is more so this season. Anderson is now a defensive minded midfielder (from what I've seen of him anyway), he gets forward that doesn't mean he's an attacking midfielder. He used to play the kinda 'fantasista' role iirc in pre-Man U days, now he's be changed into a more 'English' type of player, I hardly ever seen him using tricks (don't watch him all the time to be fair).

How did you manage to watch any Gremio games as well?
