***Midweek Football***(Spoilers within)

Are Utd/Chelsea both playing very weakened teams tonight? Hmm, on checking neither are sure of top spot yet, but both through. is it worth trying to get top spot when Barca, and quite a few other teams could all be finishing second in their group? Without the big names all clearly through in top spot, theres not much reason to risk players in the last two games is there?

and of course without Torres you seem to offer no real threat up front..money spent on Johnson seems daft when you were criminally short of another quality striker

Not least when Aurelio wasn't bad at all, rather than seemingly pushing two players out of the club and probably upsetting others in the process, why not keep them, and buy a few cheaper players to pad out the squad and maybe stumble onto some massive value deals. I can't really imagine that Torres is exactly enthusiastic about losing two spanish players he's known for years and probably hung out with a lot, then again, maybe he didn't get on with either, still seems an odd move.

Thing is if you buy a value 3-5million player, at worst you get a crap player who didn't cost much, at best you stumble onto a Henry, you might pick up a 20-30million player for 1/10th of his value.

If you buy 12-20million players, at worst you end up with a crap player not worth 4-5mil, at best you really end up with a player worth his value.

Theres a reason any team without a silly billionaire in charge buys lots of cheap guys and hopes a couple are good, because the odds of getting a couple gems and a few squad players are much higher than putting all your cash in 2-3 players.

I assume you meant Arbeloa and the reason he left was made public almost a year and a half ago.

Sorry if all ready posted but only have a couple minutes.

Dear John and Edward,
Your ability to win over the public and even Simon Cowell has made me look up to you.I hope you may be able to share your secrets with us, as you where **** week after week, but somehow you kept surviving for so long. We are in a similar position and seek your help and advice.
Yours Truly
Rafa and Sammy

Aaah the X-Factor. Gotcha. I read the first reference to them earlier on in this thread and for the life of me couldn't connect Jedward to Alex Ferguson. :p

I want to gloat, but I don't think it's fair.

I will simply say that Liverpool got what they deserved for their poor form. Taking a point from two games against Lyon just isn't good enough - no disrespect to Lyon but 'Pool should be taking at least 4 points from the two games.

I'm actually quite interested to see what Rafa's approach to the Europa League is - go "all out" and try for the silverware or just jack it in quick and concentrate on clawing 4th place back.

Man Utd: Foster, Neville, Vidic, Brown, Rafael Da Silva, Obertan, Gibson, Anderson, Park, Macheda, Welbeck.
Subs: Kuszczak, Evra, Owen, Carrick, Nani, Scholes, Fletcher.

Great chance to give Nani a start, so Fergie sticks him on the bench. *sigh* Still be good to see Anderson and Gibson get a game.

Indeed, Park is sooooo much better.

My sarcasm detector is broken so excuse me if I miss the point. :p

But yes, I think Park is a better player. Tracks back and tackles, gives his all every match, and doesn't just hog the ball.

Nani is a lot quicker though, and retains the ball better. Until he cuts inside and smashes it into row Z.

Happy with the line up really, could be a nice showing.

I'm glad Nani isn't playing after he completely trashed the team and Fergie.
