Midweek Football Thread 20 - 22 *spoilers*

O'shea has never impressed me when he's been played in the middle.

No he plods around, generally does nothing and seems to lose arial battles to dwarfs.

Gibson is injured though and it's good to see Fabio get a start as he offers way more than O'shea at left back.

With Owen not playing it does indicate he is being saved to score the winner at Anfailed.

Well United have gone with O'Pie in midfield playing the holding role. I could quite literally cry.

scholes

berba

Ouch, there is hardly anything good to say about any of those players on current form! Neither of the full backs can defend, both centre backs are struggling for form, scholes can't run, oshea is oshea, ditto for ando/nani, and neither valencia or berbatov has been worth the money!

Liverpool fan? :D

Ok, what's wrong with Carrick exactly?

He's named in the players available thingy on the BBC.

Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster; Neville, Rafael, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Brown, J Evans, Fabio; Valencia, Scholes, Carrick, C Evans, Anderson, Nani; Owen, Berbatov, Macheda, Welbeck.

Substitutes

* 29 Tomasz Kuszczak
* 6 Wes Brown
* 7 Michael Owen
* 16 Michael Carrick
* 19 Daniel Welbeck
* 23 Jonny Evans
* 27 Federico Macheda

The game is on SS2 I think

I don't understand Carrick not starting. Best we can hope for is a draw with that team selection. Could potentially be an absolute disaster really.

+1

Heres something way out - how about Fabio on the left wing ahead of OShea at full back with Nani in the hole? (or even the reverse with OShea on the wing, unless Nani is actually on the right and Valencia is central)

nope I cant work it out at all - it just makes no sense what so ever, yet again Fergie has lost it!!!

At least the scorer for Utd last weekend gets a start - thats promising lol

Tbh, a draw would be excellent for Man U today, a win fantastic, and a loss isn't the end of the world for us, the important match is coming this sunday.

actually a loss is pretty bad (on morale if nothing else)

Plus the more important the latter group games become to qualifying the less likely Hargreaves is to play , and considering how much we need him as a player the sooner the better imo

(of course there is a chance that all the positive things coming out of Carrington are blown out of proportion - but I sincerely hope they are actually true/accurate)
