Midweek Football Thread. *spoilers* 25-27

My take on it is that it wasn't a penalty but it wasn't a dive. Boruc should be angry at himself, he slid out nowhere near the ball and there was contact, what did he expect to happen? Eduardo went down too easily but there was a touch there so not a dive imo
 
Disappointed in Eduardo, I don't want to see that sort of performance at Arsenal when we're losing let alone when were winning.

I can understand him being cautious in heavy challenges, but he should have got up and admitted there was no contact or put the ball wide if the ref insisted.

For the rest of the game the 6 man midfield looked disjointed and poorly organized, with everyone floating around it seemed like we were struggling to string an effective attack together and our counter attacks suffered for it Its one thing to have one or 2 floating attackers but 9?.
 
Having been intrigued enough by the discussion to go hunting for the video, this impartial viewer's verdict?

Dive, pure and simple.

Boruc goes out of his way to avoid contact, and Eduardo drags his left foot as soon as he realises the dead-ball line's about a yard away. About as blatant as you can get without going over into 'end-of-season comedy compilation' territory.

lmao at people defending the dive. No surprise that they are all Arsenal fans.

There was NO contact until Eduardo was on the floor. By then he may have caught a hair on Boruc's arm though so I can see where you are coming from....(Just a hint of sarcasm there in case your sarcasm radars are down)

So pathetic to even try and defend him. At least I openly admit Drogba dives and cheats all the time.
 
It was a dive. But the Arsenal fans are only doing the same as every other Man Utd/Spurs/Liverpool/Chelsea fan do on here. Your all as bias as each other, but can't see it when it's yourself being bias. :p

Terrible decision on the the pen. However Arsenal were a class above and clearly deserve to progress. Good luck to them in The CL this year.

On another note I thot our supporters did us proud in the ground last night .

Just seen the Eduardo incident and it is most definately a dive, although I must say diving is so prevalent in modern football that it only really bothers me when it goes against a team I have a vested interest in. Perhaps it's time to stop moaning at the players and start moaning at the authorities who do **** all to deter them from such behaviour. Fair enough they shouldn't do it in the first place, but it's so widespread now that hoping they will stop doing it purely on the basis of good sportsmanship just isn't going to happen.

If you want to see that it's a dive then don't bother focussing on whether the keeper takes his right leg, it's his left leg that gives it away here. That should be his standing leg, but once he's got the touch on the ball he doesn't even attempt to stand his leg or continue his stride, at all. This alone makes it clear that once he's nicked the ball his only intention is to go down.
 
Just seen a laser pen was pointed at Eduardo during the taking of the penalty that shouldnt have been. Well seeing STV failed to mention that one. Dont like to see that wonder if any action will be taken.
