Midweek Football Thread. *spoilers* 25-27

It's not extreme as it has happened before for blatant dives that UEFA have reviewed based on TV evidence. A two match ban is the norm although a further warning of expulsion from the game should also be issued as diving is cheating and it's ruining the game.

A single goal can and does upset the balance of the game. The only people you will find defending this dive will be Arsenal fans and the odd bitter Rangers fan.

He should be dealt with. But so should everyone else that dives. And this has only been picked up on so much as it was on TV and was a pretty big game.

If this was Stoke V Burnley nothing would have been said.

Seems like the voices are coming out over the Eduardo dive, BBC Sport are reporting that some individuals are saying he should get a UEFA ban.

Which is a tad extreme IMO.

It's ridiculous that people are saying he should have been banned for that. Yeah there was no/minimal contact but so are 20% of most penalties.

Was Gilardino banned when he dived in the game Vs Celtic?

However, if this is a precedent for every footballer who dives, then i agree with it. Someone has to be the first one.

It has to be looked into, I mean we have had two footed tackles banned, tackling from behind banned but diving which can cause teams to feel unjust and the reaction of the Celtic players could have seen Eduardo with a broken leg or a Celtic player getting sent off because of the dive.

Dive or no dive, there were 2 other goals and Celtic never looked like they were going to win the game, so hardly robbed.

Interesting, because I'm of the opinion Arsenal didn't and don't need to cheat to win football games.

Arsenal were in control, why cheat?

Anyway, less about this, Newcastle were 1-3 down to Huddersfield ! :p
Good of them to come back.

UEFA have already banned a player for diving before.
The Lithuanian that used to play for Hearts (forgot his name) when he dived against Scotland and I think that was for a penalty too that could have cost Scotland the game (they won in the end though)

The sooner something gets done about diving, the better.
Not sure if there should be video replays or retrospective punishments or what is best.
