The easiest way to solve this is is to ban all foreigners (maybe not the Scandinavians, but definitely those with fancy names like Eduardo) and Gerrard.
Problem solved.
To be fair, if you look at the England setup, I'd go with Lampard being maybe the most honest, Carrick, Neville, the rest are either diving cheats or frequently shirt pulling, ref shouting defenders.
What I find funny is Celtic going so overboard. We would probably have been 3-0 up before the penalty if the 6-7 clinical pull downs/fouls, shirt tugs when we broke past their players were punished properly and Caldwell at the very least and probably the right winger being sent off already(for multiple cynical yellow card offenses, for which Mobray took Caldwell off because he knew he should be off already).
They lost, they lost big and they are looking for an excuse, while Mobray was very decent after the 1st leg loss which was far more one sided.
The problem is, if he dives again, I'm all for him getting punished. But surely for a first dive you should give the player a chance to change himself, isn't that how the world works, won't he see the result of what he did and decide not to do it again? Or at least, shouldn't he be given the chance, considering last year 100's of dives went unpunished with the 5-6 worst divers doing it almost every single game.
Frankly, if it had been Gerrard, Rooney, or even Lampard diving, there wouldn't be any mention of bans and no one would give a crap.
But for me the problem lies in this, the tackle that broke his legs, and almost ended his career, happened because his feet were planted. IF he jumped up at the point of first contact because he wanted to dive, or because he's incredibly worried about being reinjured and so getting his weight off his feet asap is the first thought in his mind, NO ONE CAN EVER KNOW.
What we can do is judge how he reacts to this and if he does it again. If he becomes a repeat offender, ban him, suspend him, fine him, I'll be the first guy asking for it.
Frankly for any player, making their first mistake I'd not jump into bans, let alone someone who did feel some contact and could well have been trying to minimise injury.
Take Eboue as an example, historically, he's gotten very very few cards, couple reds total and 1-2 yellows a year. But he was acused of being a bit girly, going down and making a meal of getting up, waving the fake cards around.
Since that last sending off when people really laid into him he's had a massive turnaround, despite having a very good record in terms of yellows/reds anyway.
Give him a damn chance and condemn him if he deserves it, like I said, I can't name a player who hasn't dived once. Repeat and the worst offenders should be punished.
