Midweek Football Thread. *spoilers* 25-27

You're defending him. Don't he cheated. Arsenal, proved they are more then good enough to beat Celtic without cheating.

Meh, I'm not going either way because I honestly don't care that much, it's happened that much to Arsenal and nothing has been said about it, it's just a massive slap in the face for people to care when it's the other way round. Especially in a game that didn't really matter - a big lol if anybody thought Celtic were going to score at all, much less 2 without reply. Last night didn't matter. I refuse to say he dived as I like to think Eduardo wouldn't, I'm still happy thinking that he felt some contact and then fell, however unfair it was. None of us have Eduardo's legs and none of us know if he was touched and whether he went down as a cheat or someone who felt that touch. Ignorance is bliss :D!

He dived, he proved that he would do that last night.

Arsenal didn't need to cheat to win the game, said it a million times.
Just because it's happened against you, it doesn't make it right for you to do it "two wrongs don't make a right" "an eye for an eye will make the world blind" and all that.

Diving needs to be stamped out, don't defend any player that does it, not even your own.

Wouldn't defend him, just not going to join in with the witch hunt! I'll say that what he did looked unfair and I think that's a reasonable response. But I've seen more blatant dives and I see them every few weeks

If you guys hate diving so much, have a go at this one -> Real dive

If that isn't a ban neither is Eduardo's.

You're doing it again, they did it so he can do it.
Don't just hold your hands up and say "he cheated", wouldn't expect you to join in the witch hunt with you been an Arsenal fan.

That concept's easier said that done. For all supporters. ;)

Nope, 100% agree, but you should be mature enough to say, "he cheated, it was wrong, that has no place in football" instead of trying to justify it, somehow accepting it.

In the context of having been on the recieving end of it.

Tbh, they're just trying to put him on the spot. If the press did that to Sir Alex he'd tell them to **** right off.

So they should. It's an awful part of the game that I hate to see. Zokora was all too fond of falling to the ground at times too. What's wrong with admitting it was a dive and issuing a fine or even just saying you'll have a word? It's not like it was the decider of the tie.

I suppose in an ideal world yes it's easy to go by morals and what not.

Though I'll be what I want thank you, and that's conform to what supporters of other clubs have been like in those situations. ;)

I think also what has made it worse is infrequency. People got, almost bored, of seeing certain other players repeatedly do it, and eventually stopped talking about it even while said players continued.

For example, the Pedersen dive above, I don't think (as far as I know) he's that type of player and appears to have done it once. And got vilified for it.

From the manager? I think he implied that anyway. As he says, he never asks for a player to dive. It wouldn't make sense that he'd so so anyway - Wenger's one of few people who like to consistantly play the game.

That Zakora one a few years back, vs Portsmouth? Probably the worst dive I've ever witnessed.

Aye, it is disappointing, but as the old saying goes can't beat 'em join 'em. *

*not really applies to last night, but you get what I'm putting across.

I get what you mean.

I stand by diving is bad, and should be stamped out, but until more fans start picking up and berating their own team over it, nothing will change.

Except Fabregas clearly pulls Babel back and then Toure jumps on his back :p

I suppose he couldn't pretend he didn't see it like he normally does after the interview he gave the other week, he just sounds bitter instead now.

I also, take note that Celtic could still be playing now and wouldn't have scored

Eh, Celtic DID score, albeit that it was in the 90th minute of the game and bore no relation to the final outcome. I haven't seen anything about a laser pen and even close inspection of the penalty relveals nothing.

Eduardo reminded me about Gilardino and it's galling that Celtic have been on the wrong end of some very poor decisions with regards to diving players in Europe.
