Midweek Football Thread *spoilers*

Walcott, has done nothing since his hat trick for England, I still don't know how he gets near the England squad a head of someone like Lennon

Harsh! He's played about 10 games since then, Lennon has probably played in nearly 70 or so!

Maybe it is harsh, but he's not done anything to warrant getting near the England squad. He's been injured and when he's played look very poor.

He has a very long way to come.

Nice to see Everton involved in a game I care nothing about, where we can play all our kids if we want to as we're already through. Fingers crossed no-one else gets injured though, we've enough of them at the moment!

Rafa talking about how we can finish in the top four.

I'm not going to enjoy the 90 minutes tomorrow night, I really fear for the worst if we lose against Wigan.

Does anyone think Liverpool might finally win with conviction tonight? Torres has had a game to get back into it, Liverpool NEED a win, Rafa saying top four finish. I can't decide if I should put Torres in my FF :S

I still think Liverpool will finish in the top 4. The team are just making it difficult for themselves at the moment. I had a little snigger earlier when I read the paper though, Rafa saying that the next game is their only target. Sounded a bit similar to me to when he was saying that the next game is the start of their season. Same ****, slightly different wording.

I think he really needs to pull his socks up now and start finding a way of getting his team to win some games. They've got the players, they just need to want to win more than the other teams that their playing, I also think that if they play the way they played against Arsenal in the first half then they should cause problems for a fair few teams.

Brum v Blackburn :(

Meh. Probably just watch the Gillette program then, instead of Brum V Blackburn.

I think there is as much chance of that as Liverpool winning the league. ;)

Don't think Wolves will get anything tonight but i hope we put in a good performance and not lose too heavily. Hope everyone else around us lose.

Walcott lacks composure, something most players have by the time they've played a few years at the top level (even in a bit-part role). So many times you see him beat a man down the flank but then he's like a rabbit in the headlights, he either does a really tame shot straight into the keeper's arms or wide, or executes a dodgy cross. Yes he does score some good goals but he's just not consistent enough.

I dunno, I just think maybe Arsenal isn't the right club for him, at first glance you would think his pace would be a great asset to a counterattacking side like them, but the real key to Arsenal's success (in a footballing sense, if not trophies!) is the fact that 'everyone' is comfortable on the ball and can pick out the right pass. He doesn't fit into that category.

Gonna be interesting to see who starts at LB tomorrow what with our first choice 3 injured, and Gallas & Vermaelen being used in the centre. Still, 6th choice LB (Silvestre?) is still a far cry from 4 seasons ago when we had the 8th choice LB trotting out!
