Mindless youth of today

At work I liaise with all of the emergency services and told the police this. We as an industry have no faith or trust in them after they've let us down on multiple occasions.

Yeah, my trust in them has been severely dented after some of the dealings I’ve had through work.

Rather than start a new thread, I'm going to post this here as it's relevant: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-64235272

This wasn't local to me but over the last year or so we've seen a massive surge in anti-social behaviour from the yoot, yoof, youngers, roadmen or whatever they're called depending on your local area.

It hasn't got to the above level yet, but one group around here have been attacking people out walking on their own. One guy was jumped on the way back from the takeaway, completely unprovoked, and ended up in hospital with a bleed to the brain. Multiple stories of older men being attacked on the way back from the pub at night as well. All of these attacks are being filmed and put on social media, which while disgusting, actually led to someone being charged in the first instance.

I guess the question is, have you seen the same rise in anti-social behaviour recently? Also, if you witnessed something going on, would you get involved?
I'm surprised they didn't convict the other scrotes with the Joint enterprise law.

Yes, New years eve. Loads of teenagers stood in the middle of a busy road (fair enough, wasn't busy at that time but still) setting off hundreds of fireworks. No idea where they got the money from.
Felt sorry for the house right on the corner with the new M4 on the drive.

The question is, and it's absurd for a old git like me to even say this, but why shouldn't they cause trouble? Film it on social media and get likes and attention? Parents not bothered (Too knackered working all hours to pay the bills, lazy, whatever). We know for a fact the police won't do anything for various reasons (lazy, underfunded, paperwork, arrest will lead to nothing etc etc). Just read the thread on here about the poor sod who had his leg broken. Nobody brought to justice. Chap I work with got stabbed by his ex-girlfriend. Guess what happened.....nothing. Not the same thing, but I had reason to call on the police last year and they were utterly useless. I have zero respect for the police. If I don't respect them, no wonder these teenagers don't.

I've been in far too many of those blue sky thinking / leadership / counselling type courses recently and turns out it's me who's in the wrong. I was told managers have to adapt to the younger generation who want flexible hours, home working, unlimited coffee breaks, pick and choose the work they do, set their own deadlines blah blah blah. I'm of the previous generation who thinks people who go to work, actually do the work but turns out it's me who's got it wrong. hey ho, funny old world.

anyway off on a tangent a bit lol, do nothing, cause trouble = profit. Work hard, get bugger all.

I read this the other day and was going to make a thread about it being time we updated the law so that 15 year olds don't get anonymity for these sorts of crimes. Despite being classed as a child, he will certainly have been old enough to know right from wrong.

On a more serious note though I think it's a vicious circle. Because sod all was done about people arming themselves, people take it upon themselves to arm up as a precaution and it just keeps growing.
All because the police were hamstrung and the courts/cps are pathetic.
Until we resolve our societies flaws with regards to responsible parenting I can't see the current bandages doing more than providing superficial headlines.

Think part of the problem is the likes of YouTube/TikTok+other modes of social media contributing to a sudden uptick in whatever fad rolls around in particular communities that may not entirely be broad enough for the authorities to take notice before it's already claimed multiple victims. It's made even more difficult when it starts in a different country (highly likely to be the US, but still) so the police don't really have a chance to get ahead of it without ludicrous spending on analytics that makes them overly dependent on shifty tech companies.

Sadly this is a consequence of the 'hustling' culture that has developed alongside these rotten platforms and seems rather likely that the only real solution is going to be a fairly thorny stick.

I work with young lads like this.
They are literally feral.
They have no hope of ever owning a house, most of the will never even own a car or a motorbike.
Even if they did manage to buy a bike the estates they live on are so toxic that they wouldn’t be able to hang onto it or insure it.
They learnt to drive/ride on stolen vehicles.
They have literally no understanding of any form or creativity or aspirations to improve themselves.
All they have is ‘cred’ & ‘respect’ dare to be different and you will be bullied (if young) into conforming to there narrow beliefs mainly rap music and weed.
It’s a lost generation.

One of them said to me today.
I bet you couldn’t tame me, you would be tied up and I would be racing about in your Z4.
I said bet I could.
I would offer you hope and responsibility.
Shame it’s not within my power to do so.
He was certainly shocked, it wasn’t the answer he was expecting.
I don’t for a minute think they like me, quite the opposite but I am not the sort who idly ignores things.

It must be depressing working with them though. I suppose not many of them ever break out of the life they are in.
Must be horrible for a decent family trying to bring a kid up in those places.

It is.
I do this job because I have bowel disease and it suits me.
I walk to work, they are even envious of my mountain bike I use in the summer months.

All on CCTV a couple of days ago I had two lads standing at the end of my drive.
The lights have come on and one of them is saying "Is that a Ring? I want to press it".
His mate says "There are other cameras" and they move away a bit but the first lad is insistent he wants to ring my Ring.
He then pulls his hood up, runs at my door, rings it and runs off :)
I can't wait for them to get into proper illegal activity.

In the last 15 years my town, which was nearly crime free, now has a problem with anti-social behaviour with youths.

I've had things stolen from my yard. After that I had cameras installed and seen multiple other people approaching the back fence looking over it. One lad jumped over the fence looking at a Quad I had (someone had stolen a previous Quad). Luckily I usually stay awake most nights so I did the locking lights on my car, which was at the side of them, and the lad jumped back over the fence.

Another 2 lads tried to come at my yard from the side, crossing over the back gardens of other houses.

I think the worse I've seen is some cctv video of a guy with mental disabilities being hit and chased around town by some youths.

We're living in a mostly spank-free era... thanks. Not saying spanking worked totally. But we didn't have this much disrespect going on in society than we do today.

One day these youths are going to be more than spanked... but not by their parents.

Countries with Draconian physical punishment for even low level crime tend to have low crime rates at all levels, but the sensistivities of the liberals are assaulted when birching the scum is suggested. I was an arrogant little barsteward until I went to a school that used corporal punsihment, once I had a taste of a stick across my back I soon fell into line...

What happened 15 years ago...

Nothing to do with uncontrolled immigration then? The most prevalent none British national in prison at the moment are Albanians. You know, those that come seeking sanctuary in rubber boats...? Gun and knife crime? Anything notable about the demographics? Drug dealing?

Don't come back with "Oh, but they are short of money". The ******** are driving around in new top end cars and holidaying like a jet setter. What they are short of is a good beating.

Mainly Muslim countries IIRC. I thought you weren't a fan of the religion.
