Mini keyring-sized digital camera/camcorder

Firstly, i assume you're not pressing the dummy buttons. Also have you put a memory card in it?

If so, unplug the usb lead and press the power (the more triangular of the two buttons) for about 4-5 seconds. Does the orange light go out?

Your correct. I am not pressing those buttons. I do have an memory card installed. I have unplugged the usb lead (the light goes out) and pressed the button as requested, still nothing happens.

I'm not sure what the problem is then. Hopefully someone will be along that might be able to help.

Sounds like I have a dodgy one, just picked it up, to hear some thing loose inside rattling around.

Will trying and get it open, but looks like I will have to contact the seller to see if he will replace it

I can't imagine their quality control is the best! What i hate about most HK ebay sellers, who i assume you ordered yours from, is that they don't refund the cost of sending faulty items back to them. Hopefully he will send you another one out and not expect this one to be returned.

On the #3 camera you can't remove it, the best you can do is a VirtualDub filter that blends it into the video. You would need to apply this filter before flipping it though as I don't think the filter would work once you flip the video.
which filter are you using to remove the timestamp? there are 2 listed on the http://www.chucklohr.com/808/ site:

● logoaway.vdf is a VirtualDub filter to remove the on-screen video timestamp. Sample.
● timestamp.vdf is a VirtualDub filter to remove the on-screen video timestamp. Sample.

which one is the best one to use or are they both the same?

I have used timestamp.vdf and it seemed to do quite a good job. It was made specifically for removing the timestamp on these cameras, the other one is a generic logo removing filter but is still does a good job. It's not perfect but it does remove the distraction. Take a look at the same videos (listed after the links on chuck's site) for an idea of what it does.

Have you tried a different USB cable as the ones shipped with the cameras are really bad. I plugged mine into a USB hard drive and although it powered up, the computer would not see it, probably down to the poor quality of the cable. I have even tested the pins with a multimeter and they seem to be intermittent at best.

thanks, i've just downloaded the timestamp.vdf filter and the md80 preset removes it perfectly, no hassle at all. now to try and get something uploaded.

does youtube still have that 10min time limit on vids?

Yeah, you can crop the video in VirtualDub though. If you do a direct stream copy then no encoding will need to be done and it will preserve the quality.
gotcha, i haven't got anything encoded yet so i'm going to select 10 min chunks before encoding. :)

Havent used mine for ages now. Might sell it. I know it would be something I used for a day or 2 then never used again.

Either sell or wait until I go skiing and tape it to my head

This thread does not deliver. I waded through 34 pages wanting a Cat Cam and found nothing but Car Cam's.

People of OcUK, your audience demands helicopter/airplane/balloon or Cat Cam vids.

Don't let us down peeps... ;)

I can actually see the device when plugged into my machine. Just can't do anything else with it. :(

Just received an email from the seller, who is going to send me a new camera out. :)

Give it another week. In my experience, i usually get deliveries in about 2 weeks but in some cases it has been around 4.
