Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning (Part One)

Yeah perfect action/Tom Cruise running film. 8.5/10

The car chase in Rome got a teeny bit silly and went in a full circle, if you know the layout of the city its hilarious.
The "train" scene just kept on giving till the very end lol
I've literally had my fill of real beautiful English accented women for a few films :P

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the end of the film! Our local Odeon IMAX had the sound set so loud it hurt your ears during the action scenes so I had to leave!
In all my years going to the cinema as a limitless card holder I've never walked out due to it being to loud :(

Did you tell the cinema staff?

Absolutely fantastic. Loved it. Action all the way. They keep delivering every movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for Part 2.

Only sad thing was Rebecca Ferguson leaving :(

I wonder if that was partly because of conflicts with her doing other projects (Silo).

Was thinking about that too.

She was fantastic in it. Will never forget that scene where she had the leg up in a sniper position with her flute gun. She way more attractive than Haley imo :D

Went to see this at the imax tonight with the missus. It was brilliant. You know a movie is good when you don't see 2h30m going by.

7/10. A bit ridiculous and full of plot holes

And why do all these top agents and special forces only use knives? Don't they give them guns

All the actresses were really good though

Went last night and loved it. If I had one critique it would be one of the weakest opening sequences of the franchise. I can't see anything being more fun to watch than "the package is on the plane"

All the female characters were great and well acted, the score was superb, the cinematography was mid blowing at times. The action was unbelievably good. I actually thought the fight sequence on top of the train was CGI until I found out after it was done practically, along with everything else.

Every time I've watched a behind the scenes video on YouTube, it makes me want to go and see it again.

Easily as good as the last two films for me and it's going to be a long wait until part two comes out next year.

9/10

Watched it this afternoon - I’ve never really gelled with the series so this was more of a “yeah cinema why not” trip. Plus I looove me some popcorn :o

S’alright! Lots done well, flip-flops between intriguing (good), smart (good) and then silly (your mileage may vary). The action is often spectacular, Cruise himself is pretty convincing. Some of the ‘sexiness’ of the characters and at times some of the humour feels a little cheap and, maybe, retro? That, and a confusing ‘awkward motive’ villain, makes it feel a bit inconsistent at time but overall it just about stays cohesive. I’m keen to see part 2 so that’s a win.

Oh, also, that’s how you set up a part 2. The general set up is there but nothing too detailed. I’m still looking at you with resentment, ‘Across the Spider-verse’

Jam packed cinema so I’m sure it’ll do very well.

Loved the plot generally. Submarine stuff was cool but I’m sure everyone winced a bit at the bodies in the water - awkward timing? :o

Villain, Gabriel, was a bit meh. It wasn’t clear why he was being such an arse other than for ‘his amusement of being sadistic’. That’s perhaps the weakest aspect of the film aside from the goofy ‘sexiness’.

On that, the flirty dialogue at times seemed a bit dated. I couldn’t tell whether I was being a little sexist or not finding the British actress being a little too pretty for the role; Cruise is a pretty boy too so why am I more accepting of him? I can’t get too hung up I suppose…

Simon Pegg’s character actually had character rather than just comic relief and his humorous moments were good, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Car chase in Rome was good but again some of the humour when they got into the Fiat was a bit jarring.

The train finale was at times very similar to the original (first) film, which I rewatched quite recently, so I wasn’t too keen on the whole of that. But the scene with the carriages dropping was pretty neat.

A good time - 7.5/10

Just hoping Isla Faust isn't really dead but some clever plot to trick the entity and she will be back for Part 2.

This seems to have underperformed at the US box office for the opening weekend. It made about half of what Little mermaid did (as an example)

It did very well internationally though and made $235 million overall.

Hopefully it has staying power and does make lots of money but Barbie and Oppenheimer are out next weekend
