Why waste their time? It's pretty obvious you have no intent to buy an evo. Might sound harsh but this thread is one of those cries for attention when you'll end up with a fiesta or a jazz...

Hope I'm wrong but 'loose value' 'brought' why even look at Hyundai? 90% of naff cars lose value as soon as you leave the forecourt. Had you entitled this thread to be about hyundais and not even you would have received about 4 replies. It's just odd!

yea yea we'll see...........end up with a Jazz, i already own 2 .... yes 2  why do you think i want something much quicker

no, i went to Hyundai because i was inquiring about their new Coupe Turbo, i went on the same day that i drove the new Type R.... i then strolled around their car lot

what do you know about cars, because the Hyundai and Jazz and 100% reliable, yea it's as slow as hell, but it's still a damned good car.

i had fast cars years ago and now i fancy another one, but i wont buy anything without loads of research

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMPREXA-WRX-STI-SPEC-C-WIDETRACK-LIGHTWEIGHT-JDM-ONLY-MODEL-48K-/151939909660?hash=item236053081c:g:bQoAAOSwL7VWhu08

Spec-C Impreza 1k less than the Evo. Having been a passenger in one of these they are simply amazing. Sub 8 Minute car out of the box and with some decent modern rubber even faster! This one only has 48K on it as well.

This one's been marked down too, the price in the actual text is £15k. Aren't Boxer engines more expensive to maintain though?

dont buy it......see it first and then buy it.....i always say this ``if i win the bid, i'll only give you the money after i've seen it and only if it's as good as advertised, i'd like to see the underside as well please``....

if you get no reply, just delete it from your ``Watch List``..... i get about 50% no replies, so this just goes to show that you need to be careful....

i do this with Electrical household goods too

Did you quote the wrong person there Mal? I woukdn't be seen dead in an Evo or an Impreza unless on a track ;)

Not that they're bad cars, far from it, I'm just not a fan.

When looking at 15 year old cars costing over 10k be sceptical about everything and I mean, everything.

but to know who to trust is very hard, i'd be most careful of a Car Importer, because they're bloody good at tarting up an old heap.

the best to trust is someone that's proud of his motor and has spent loads of money on it, but you can always tell what he's like if he starts chatting to you at home.

if he ignores you or only gives you quick replies to your VERY LONG email then WATCH OUT, basically you have to be a pain in the Ass and if he doesn't like it, then forget it

I have an Evo 8 FQ-300. If you want a capable car to drive quickly then buy a 8 or 9.

My 8 was nowhere near £15k and I bought it with 35,000 miles on it. I've only replaced the belts for peace of mind, had it serviced twice and replaced the fuel filler neck. They're expensive to run and maintain (to an extent) but they're worth it.

Mine is also completely standard which is nice.

right back on track

i've seen a really nice yellow Evo 8.........BUT, he hasn't sent me a photo of its engine bay, just a poor excuse..........so this is a NO straight away

Guy at work buys cars from Japan and sells be them on, you can get some decent motors at auction over there, he just had two scoops and a r34 gtr.

i tell you what i dont understand and you see this all the time......``it's an import, so it has no rust at all``

but doesn't it rain in Japan too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand the whole JDM thing. Certain cars have different specs which makes sense but some people seem to think that a JDM car is somehow a magical unicorn despute it being 99% the same as a UK car

They don't salt the roads like here in winter and Japanese cars tend to be cared for to a higher degree than your average motor here.

Hence they can be cleaner outside and underneath.

yea, you need to see the Engine Bay and underside before buying it

yea, the Japanese are nuts about cars, especially Street Racing, it's really big over there

Well kinda but ypu get middle aged business men buying a car and keeping it in storage to use once every blue moon and every so often these cars pop up for sale. Saw the cleanest ever rev 4 mr2 turbo 30k miles or less. Looked completely immaculate. 7 grand i nearly bought it. But went for the house instead.
