Mock The Week

No no, shooting stars is massively over-rated.

Shooting Stars was absolutely ace. Some of the things just absolutely cracked me up.

The "Hill Detector" prize was always a favorite

A piece of perspex with a curve drawn on it...it could also be used as a vally detector! :D

As previously mentioned, Franky Boyle just says the most outrageous thing he can think of to do with the subject matter. Sometime funny, sometimes annoying.

Russell Howard I actually quite like, I find him quite amusing most of the time.

Andy parsons is occasionally funny but can be hit an miss.

Hugh Dennis is always very quite during the actually rounds but quickly makes up for it on the improv part.

IMO, mock the week stays at about the same level everyweek as HIGNFY can vary quite a lot. Some weeks it is soo much better, (Brian blessed), others it is just fairly tedious.

Oh and Paul Merton can get annoying, if his joke doesn't work straight away he just keeps repeating it through out the rest of the show until people start laughing.

Reginald D Hunter, Boris Johnson and Brian Blessed make HIGNFY for me. I always laugh when they are on but at other times its a bit naff.

That didn't even raise a smirk. What was funny about that. Thats like american humour.

Context.

That's not a patronising "you're wrong and everyone else is right", or anything. Different people will chortle at different scenarios.

It's just that within the context of the established Reeves & Mortimer Shooting Stars ouvre, this was an unexpected moment of genius. Context is vitally important; this youtube vid couldn't really make this clear; you had to be watching Shooting Stars; this link was more for those that remembered the event than anything else.
