Yup. The FIA removed them between FP3 and Q1. Good thing too, may have made that accident so much worse. Bit like Rubens in 1994 at Imola.

i noticed he held his head. is this what they're trained to do if they can (before impact) or was that just an instinctive thing he did?

Not really, more like punted him into the air. Rosberb was also still trying to steer left - that probably helped more.

sure did, but both wheels stayed attach, so another rule working this year.

Instinct I should imagine. I thought they were supposed to put their hands on the chest.

Shouldn't they fix that bump on the road? It clearly destabalises the car under braking.

Tyre is a lot lighter and more squishy that the whole thing, so it would do less damage.
