Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

People saying McLaren should have got in a banker lap need to pay better attention Lewis had a problem with the car at the start of Q3 that's why he didn't go straight out.

Qualifying - Vettel on pole in Monaco after Perez shunt
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was in the right place at the right time in a dramatic final qualifying session in Monaco on Saturday afternoon, to take his fifth pole of the season. Just after the world champion had gone fastest, the session was red flagged with 2m 26s remaining when Sergio Perez, who had done a great job to run ninth in Q2, lost his Sauber over the bumps exiting the tunnel.

Monaco Grand Prix - Top three drivers press conference
Sebastian Vettel is relieved to come out of qualifying on pole and joins second and third-placed drivers, McLaren's Jenson Button and Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, in sending best wishes to Sauber driver Segio Perez, who crashed in the final session.

Spoiled things for all of us - would have made it an interesting championship.

Championship? That's a bit of an overstatement. Hamilton will probably take less points than he would have done otherwise, and Vettel more, but this is only one race. There's a lot more to come.

Are some people new to f1, they say Ferrari dominated and those days suck, but look back. Most season Are dominated and it's not just the Ferrari/ms era.

Update.

Perez confirmed to have a concussion and a thigh sprain, but no fractures and talking to the doctors. :)

HRT have been allowed to race due to their practice times.. bummer.

Why is it a bummer, I just don't get the wish for them to fail. More f1 cars. The better and they aren't going to close the gap if they can never race.

They shouldn't be racing in the 1st place. Too slow for a track like monaco don't mind in other tracks, but here they re a liability.

Why is everyone saying McLaren messed up? They had a problem with HAM's car. He wasn't even in the cockpit waiting to go out! If there was no problem with his car then he would have been out there...

No they aren't, no more than another car with an issue.
They turn up they can race. These are drivers at the top of their game, if they can't get it right, perhaps they aren't so great.

Not a fan of either driver if I'm honest, better drivers out there not getting a chance imho.

I know HRT have actually made some effort this year to improve the car (unlike last), but they still come across as very amateur and offer little to the sport.

That's a problem with selection process IMO. They turned up, are within the rules, which allow the 107% to be applied to practise sessions. They should race.

Time to turn off the F1 maybe and watch another sport?

Why does that HAVE to equal turning off F1?

I would just rather an exciting, close season like we have seen in the past over a boring season with Vettel running off with the championship. I don't get what is so difficult to grasp from that sentence?

I am sure lots of other people will turn off though if Vettel does win the title with many races left.

It's f1 which is very much about the car, as the link to wiki shows, close seasons aren't that regular, normal action is pretty dominating. RBR should have dominated last year, but didn't due to drivers, brawn dominated the year before.
