Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

So Perez is not taking part in monaco so I think that puts Lewis up to 8th now at the start.

Perez never set a time either so with two of the 10 not setting a time and one not taking place Hamilton will still start 9th. 10th would have been Perez.

I sat down at the start of Q1 and said to myself "If anyone doesnt set a time and there is a late red flag they'll be srewed". Didn't think it would be McLaren and Hamilton making that mistake ><.

There really was no need to sit him at the exit to the pits for that long though. He could have left the pits 60 seconds after the session restarted and still got his 1 flying lap and not been on cold low pressure tyres.

It's going to be a very interesting GP with these tyres. Hopefully Hamilton can make a few places up without sticking it in the wall. Its up to Button & Alonso to keep Vettel honest today and I really hope they do.

My bad on the lewis 8th. I hope Button goes in to the lead from the start I just hope that if he does vettel won't
try to ram Button off the track.

Don't understand this place at all...
People say they want racing and someone to challenge vettel, then they say they want Button to crash into him. He has been WDC and he's in a good car, please don't collide, would rob us of an interesting race potentially.
Is it really just sour grapes? Racing means nothing when the driver we follow isn't up front?

Agreed, that's OcUK for you.. :p

Nope should still be 9th, Perez was 10th iirc.

Your are obviously quite dense if you think Lewis is whinging. Non of what happened in Q3 was Lewis's fault. Any idiot can work that out for themselves. It WASN'T his call to stay in the pits, it WASN'T his fault Massa ruined his first flying lap, and it WASN'T his fault Perez crashed out. It sounds like a bunch of tales, but thats the cold hard truth of what happened. So, I think he has every right to be pointing the finger elsewhere. He was quickest in Q1 and Q2, and he would have been extremely close to Vettel in Q3. He knows that, and everyone else knows that, even Fernando Alonso said so.

Well he quite obviously was annoyed which is understandable and did whinge about it, watch his interview again as he makes a dig about McLaren's racing experience. Hamilton concede's in the interview himself that he could have overruled the decision to have one lap in Q3. It's clear that the strategy was wrong and Hamilton has every reason to be frustrated with qualifying, but what people dislike is his sour attitude after a bad quali/race whereas other drivers will get on with it and look forward to the next race. Hamilton is one of my favourite drivers in the sport but I can still recognise that he could handle himself better at times post quali/race.

I know my friend but he is not the only one, you listen to Alonso or any of them, they are all the same.
Just gets up my back sometimes that people jump onto the wagon of Hamilton hating because they haven't got anything more intelligent to post so repeat the bleat of others.

I am not that big a fan of Hamilton, but I will stand up for drivers when I such crass statements form people like us who haven't an inkling into the frustration that they must go through.

I know exactly the frustration, This morning at 06:30 on my way to work I in my piddly little Focus 1.6 was driving behind a Porsche 911 GT3 in a beautiful sky blue with a "911 GB" plate who proceeded to slow down for a speed camera that was facing the opposite way. In comparison F1 drivers have it easy lol.

I have a funny feeling that a saftey car incident will decide the outcome of this race today. Hoping Button can stay out and make his tyres work and not have vettel win. At this point i'll take anyone else winning rather than vettel.

Its just a will to have something interesting in the race, a bit of competition or unpredictability in a season that could be dominated by Vettel.

Too many people can remember watching every race from 2000-2006 where the Ferrari+MSc combination started on pole and just drove off into the sunset, which is how the RedBull+Vettel look to be able to do.

I dont love crashes, they always worry me now, but something important has to happen on the first lap to stop the dull prospect of Vettel being unchallenged this race, as Monaco can be awesome if there's a few people on it all at once (I'm thinking of the year Webber nearly won it in the Williams till his and 2 other car's engines blew).

The championship needs a Vettel DNF to close the gap. I seem to recall schumacher would be a good candidate to take someone out without a penalty.

I actually don't mind if Vettel wins. He has an incredible car and is undoubtedly a good driver. What I don't want to see is him parading off into the distance with no competition. One driver winning every week isn't boring. One driver destroying everyone else every week is. In Spain I would have loved Hamilton to pip Vettel to 1st but he was a very close second. All I want is someone to push him and keep him honest.

Jake Humphrey doesn't he have the best job in the world! Having DC showing him round all the best restaurants and hotels in Monaco and calling it work!

I wonder if there'll be anymore Rosberg/Perez incidents during the race? I wouldn't wish it on anyone but that part of the circuit looks a bit of time bomb.

It's been like that for a very very long time, its just the drivers making more mistakes coming out the tunnel a bit wide.

Only a time bomb because they are trying to push a little too hard in the wrong bit of the track. The one time I really think Eddie should just shut up as he is just being silly (they've known about this bump for years so its stupid that its suddenly a bad thing)

This isn't going to please Pirelli, whilst they've achieved their brief of more exciting tyres I don't think they'll be pleased to hear them described as having less grip.

You'd expect a less durable softer tyre to provide more grip, not less.

Webber has pretty much said 'They're very good but Bridgestone lasted longer, were more predictable and provided more grip'. :/
