Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

Oh, almost totally forgot about practice today!

As did I. :(
Alarm set for practise 2!

I know I say it every week, but at this track, I actually believe there is a very high possiblity of it happening...
Alonso to win this weekend.[/broken record]

Pretty sure the Ferrari will keep in the competitive times over the practise sessions, as long as they don't pull some abortion of a strategy out the bag...

Practice One - Vettel sets the pace for Red Bull in Monaco
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, Mercedes' Nico Rosberg and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso staged a great fight for fastest time in the closing minutes of the first practice session here in Monaco on Thursday morning, with Vettel finally triumphing over Alonso by 0.113s just when it seemed that the Ferrari driver had things in the bag.

Urgh ignored my alarm for p1, no idea why but just forgot about it completely. Least I have some time to get out to the shop before p2 and get my self comfy for it :)

I'd drop Monaco without any regrets and take it to a classic track. Zolder maybe. Or maybe Zandvoort, Estoril, Magny-cours, Paul Ricard, Portimao, San Luis, Mexico City, A1 Ring, Kyalami...

The best reasoning I've heard from a journo recently is: If it's unsafe to have DRS through the tunnel, then it's unsafe for F1 to be here.

Replacing Monaco is a weird argument, its not a good track from most aspects of what makes a good track, but technically its an amazing challenge for the teams and drivers as it tends to reward things other than aero, when most tracks can be dominated by aero (only other example of a decent non aero track is Montreal at a quick guess).

Id love to see F1 make it to some of the tracks you've listed (Estoril and Mexico City mostly) but most of them seem to encourage the main problem of F1 in hammering aero to do better on the track.

If it did get replaced (or made into a non-championship exhibition race for a big cash prize) they would have to go to a real challenge of a track, I vote Laaguna Seca to see them all try and get round that place...

I love Monaco, which they droped all the newer tracks and went back to some older tracks.

Or just get off the artsy band wagon and remove all the run offs, that would improve the newer tracks, get a bit of height change in them as well.
