Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

Watching back both the Massa and Maldonado incidents, you can see why Hamilton is ****ed off, they both turned in very very early with a car up the inside, what was he supposed to do when cars are turning in so early? With Massa, if he'd taken that as a racing line without Hamilton there, would probably have driven into the barrier he turned in that early.

Still, Montreal next. Properly great track. :D

Here's an idea. Make Monaco a non championship race. No points, just a pretty sizeable chunk of money.

The rules are ****

Why not give Hamilton a penalty for the incident with Schumi?? He did the exact same thing as he did with maldenado except Schumi didnt turn in stupidely early and had the sense to avoid a collision.

It seems like you only get a penalty if you actually cause an accident. If you do the same thing but get lucky and don't cause a collision, you get of scott free.

Lucky there's not another one week break now. I think we need two weeks to get over this one. Get rid of Monaco? Seriously? That was one of the better races of the season so far.

I'm sure people are confusing good racing with entertainment, it wasn't a good "race" at all, It might of made for a good spectical though.

FIA want overtaking, but if you try and fail, you get bitchslapped by the stewards. Yet, they introduce DRS?

So they only want overtaking in the DRS zone just to prove that it's working?

Was just going to post that idea, but thought I'd be mocked. It's a shame this track has to have an effect on the championship.

The red flag killed the race, they may as well have stopped it there as allowing the change of tyres undid the goo work of Button when he was poised to get 1st or 2nd.

Where was the racing? The spirit of racing is in being able to overtake.. (without being penalised for it)

Monaco is a 78 lap precession with a few crashes thrown in.

Unless you try it at the end of the DRS zone, get turned in on and then you get bitchslapped again.

It was pretty much in the Drs zone, they just don't know what to do imo, after his comment they were always giving him a further slapping I guess.

Indeed, that's what would have made this race special and infact what it was all about - Jenson homing in on Vettel's strategic decisions. It was brilliant seeing him home in like a harrier jump jet on it's target and then that red flag just killed the race.

Since I've been watching F1 (silverstone 08) I've never seen a race T'd up like that (as Martin Brundle so aptly put it) ... it played out for a gripping finale but turned out to be a pretty hefty anti-climax :(

Essentially at Monaco, the only way to overtake without getting punished is if the guy in front pretty much gives up his position to you and doesn't fight your pass.

If he fights it, it almost certainly leads to contact of some sort because of the track and then you probably get punished for it.
