Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

I am going to put a bet on whoever is in 3rd and 4th to win of Hamilton ends up behind rosberg on first lap
Dnf for Hamilton and rosberg might also be a good bet!

However if Hamilton wins this.. Oh dear.. Could break rosberg

At the last race Hamilton said he wanted to breakdown Rosberg mentally. Looks like opposite has happened.

It's certainly a couple of key races. If Hamilton wins one of them he's regained the upper hand.

But he should never have lost it. What Hamilton needed to do was think "I've won four on the bounce, I've just forced Nico into a mistake, I've got to keep on applying the pressure, because now it's down to us, he's shown the first crack", but somehow he turned it into a negative thing about himself instead, and has put all of the pressure on himself.

I'm looking forward to today as I think Hamilton and Rosberg gonna be close as anything all race long so either Hamilton needs to get by at the start or he's going to take a huge risk attempting an overtake.

With the frame of mind Hamilton may well be in wouldn't surprise me if he tries something to make Rosberg either crash into him or let him through.

I love this track, why oh why do people want rid of it. It is so technical and so many barriers just inches away. Yeah it's hard to overtakes but one race a year on a track like this is pure awesome. We should have more variation on tracks over the year.

He's rightfully annoyed, he was robbed of a chance at pole, purposefully or not, but I don't think it's going to have the effect everyone thinks it will, obviously we'll find out shortly, but I can see him getting to the circuit today with a clearer head and just getting on with it.

Lewis is an emotional guy, he wears his heart on his sleeve, he's not throwing his toys, he's just expressing his emotions, thats Lewis, leave him to it, people look into things too much, I don't understand why people think he's going to change/"mature", its just the way he is, get over it.

ted's notebook was interesting :D about 5mins in

Probably not quite the amorous fan he'd be looking for in monaco.
Haha just watching it on SSF1 now, funny as hell Ted just wandering around, talking and getting accosted by random people the actual discussion of qualifying is almost a sideshow!

Edit: Incidentally Ted has had to fly back to the UK according to his twitter feed so he won't be at the race today sadly :(

Surprised this race isn't on the BBC actually as it's one of the blue riband races. They've only had 2 out of the first 6 live saving all the others up for the business end of the season I guess.

Same here. I would like to see at least one pure overtaking spot though, but the spectacle is awesome. Even better in the wet.

It's one of my favourite tracks along with Montreal, Spa, Suzuka, and Interlagos. I'd rather see any of these on the calendar over say Silverstone (looks as interesting as Bahrain, too wide and open), Catalunya (pure aero track), Hungaroring (can't overtake) etc..

There's nothing clever about reversing down a run-off area. If Hamilton had done the same as Rosberg as in 'losing control' at the same point, then where would Hamilton, or anyone esle have run-off too?

Assuming he did it on purpose, he realised that he didnt have the speed to claim pole. Hence, he chose the most innocuous place to "run off". This would cause no accident. No danger. Bring out the yellows. Stop qualifying. And leave him on pole.

Rosberg knew that Hamilton was going faster and faster and if he believed Hamilton would get pole, this was the only way to get pole.

Rosberg did what he needed to. And acheived his target. Clever.

The above assumes that he went off on purpose.

I doubt Rosberg will be broken by losing 4-5 races.
We all know that 1 DNF for Hamilton (for all his race wins), would put him behind Rosberg in the title race.

Speed is important. Luck - that's even more important.
