Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Oh great now the thread will be inundated with butt hurt hammy fans. As if rosberg meant to do that on purpose. Has he ever done anything slight of hand or deviant like that? No. Also over most of the sessions rosberg was quicker.

Er Rosberg was faster in the build up sessions the last race too. We all know Hammys speciality is putting in one killer lap when it counts, he has done it consistently and was level with Rosberg in the first sector.

Hamilton was faster in two practice sessions, Alonso the other, Rosberg was faster in one qualifying session, Hamilton one.... yeah, Rosberg looked fastest.

Has he ever done anything under hand, the better question when was the last time he had lost 4 wins in a row to his team mate in a car that could win the title.... never.

You don't get people being underhand unless they have something to gain from it. He's never been in this position before nor ever been under as much pressure from a team mate so what he's done previously isn't relevant, he hasn't previously been in this situation.

Also... you know, he's german.

Indeed. Here they come.

Rosberg made a mistake and lucked a pole. He will feel a bit sheepish around Lewis because he lucked it, not because he did it deliberately.

Suggesting it was deliberate, or that there shouldn't be yellow flags for a car stopped and then reversing out of a run off zone with the potential for marshals on track is just pathetic.

But they will still come.

Like Damon hill just said... rosberg was quicker on the first run. Yellow flags can happen in formula 1 so Hamilton is playing a stupid game if he decides to do a cap run in q3 then a quick one.

Well said Anthony Davidson. .. If he wanted to cause yellow flags he'd not have gone so deep into the run off area. Simple as that.

If he wanted a yellow that couldn't be questioned that he did it on purpose he would have stopped in the middle of the corner. If he wanted a yellow you could get away with pretending isn't your fault you'd go down the run off road. He knew Hamilton was behind him and that a yellow would be waved long enough.

If I was going to get pole like that I'd go off on the most used run off road that always causes a yellow for at least a decent amount of time, I wouldn't just stop on the corner because no one would believe it wasn't on purpose.

No, a car was off the track in a run off with marshals potentially assisting. Its a yellow flag.

Sure it sucks, but you can't just pick and choose the yellow flag regs to apply because you don't like the outcome.

And yet the yellow flags cleared a short while afterward when the car was still there?

Just smacks of incompetence to me on the part of the race director. Sure, smack the yellows on immediately, until you know what the situation is, but as soon as he saw that Rosberg had driven right down the escape road, the yellows should have been removed straight way, especially in view of the situation with Hamilton coming down the road. Those yellows should have been on for 5 seconds max.

Oh dear what a hollow pole position for Rosberg, i know it was probably a mistake from him but kinda messed up Hamiltons lap due to the yellow.

Oh well unlucky Hamilton, hopefully he can win his 5th race on a trot tomorrow.

Blimey. Exactly what I expected from you. Blinded fan boy. I guess your opinion holds more water than an ex f1 British driver like Anthony Davidson tho....;)

Looking from the onboard only it looks dodgy, but from the head-on view you can see he locks his rear wheels (hence the wheel corrections) before then locking the front tyre. Genuine mistake.

It's been the corner where most mistakes have been made this year. He'll not be the last to do that this weekend.

He could have made a mistake, or he could have made a very clever and deliberate mistake.

Hammy haters and fans will argue forevermore into eternity, even the pundits disagree.

This thread now needs a drama proof suit now :)

What a stupid argument to say if he wanted to cause the yellow flag he would have just parked on the corner... that would have made it blatantly obvious and he would have to endure an almighty storm of hate and abuse.

Look at the replay again, hes not even going into the corner very fast at all... he stamps the breaks and turns out of the corner, to my eyes it was completely obvious.

Yes, it does, to me.

Do you know how many things Brundle gets wrong every single race, or football pundits on footballing incidents? People who use the "but an ex pro says differently therefore you are wrong" argument is simply stupid because of the simple frequency with which ex pro's get things wrong.

Aside from the fact that being a sports men doesn't mean you can't get things wrong, there is also the little fact that these guys work alongside these sports men. People rarely talk out about people that they are required to interview as part of their job. People are overly nice and very often give the benefit of the doubt when there isn't any.

Then lets remember, Rosberg was REVERSING BACK ONTO A TRACK, why didn't the director stop waving the yellow..... BECAUSE ROSBERG WAS REVERSING TOWARDS THE TRACK.

It was over, the lap was gone, the flag was out so no chance of another lap, why reverse towards the track... that is for me definitive. The only reason to reverse is to make sure of the flag. No reason to reverse at all till a everyone has certainly gone.

Uh... no.

The flags were there until Rosberg backed out of the run off and drove off, and then they went in.
