I think Button was on top form, getting that close to Stoffel. Even the McLaren drivers have hundreds of laps under their belts in these new cars, and Button's rocked up after some cycling, swimming, running and simulator time and pretty much matched him. He also came out with a couple of gems on the radio, and did a sneaky overtake of Hamilton at the end of FP2. Seems to be enjoying himself with absolutely zero pressure on him.

Looks like Mercedes have some thinking to do tomorrow ahead of qualifying.

"But whatever happens this weekend, for most of it, it will be forgotten on Monday. The important thing is to enjoy what I do this weekend and that’s it, really. Have fun and make some more memories for myself.”

Reads to me like that's certainly it for his F1 career after this weekend Obviously we can't expect an amazing result and his words may be more about the car than his career, however I certainly hope we see a good finish for him this weekend. He seems to have got right in there with more to improve and it's not like him to stuff it in the barriers.

Yup, Button's been impressive considering it's his first time in a 2017 car.

Never doubted he wouldn't be, the underated dri
Yeah I actually re-read it after I posted and realised he only said he crashed at the same place on Playstation not that it was because of Playstation.

Fake news!
Neither did he say he crashed at those corners: "Every time I play the PlayStation game, it’s always those corners that I can’t get right, and in reality it’s still those two corners.” No mention of crashing...

and Button with a 15 place penalty, makes the entire weekend worthless for him. Thing is if he wasn't driving he'd be here chilling out and enjoying F1 anyway, just without the stress and embarrassment of dealing with this stupid car/team/engine.

Shame for Button, as it looked like the track was masking some of the McLaren-Honda deficiencies for once.

Meanwhile, that Ferrari is looking pretty spectacular. The Mercedes rather less so. Will be interesting to see if RBR can mix things up a bit.

Why are all the silly fins coming back on the Ferrari? We're nearly back to 2008 with fins on the bodywork everywhere.

Are they showing timings on the outlaps?

no, that is a first fast lap, they are going out and doing very slow laps, then a warm up lap. It's not a good track for heating up tires, the tires are too hard as well for here. So they are doing a 'slow' fast lap, then a fast quali lap to get the times they want.
