no, that is a first fast lap, they are going out and doing very slow laps, then a warm up lap. It's not a good track for heating up tires, the tires are too hard as well for here. So they are doing a 'slow' fast lap, then a fast quali lap to get the times they want.

I don't think the Merc looks good here, probably in part the longer wheel base. You build the best car you can for the season but it might not work well at a couple of tracks. Looks to me like Merc is the best car at most tracks so far but it's just not suited to here, it's too big to get turned in to the tight corners.

EDIT:- just after I typed that Hamilton came incredibly close to losing it on his fast lap, like crazy close. Has to go again but not with the best situation for tires in a car that is already struggling.

the merc looks horrible and Hamilton looking like the worse of the pair again.
trouble is Bottas is then usually slow in the race.
like rain it does equal the engine differences somewhat with RBR up there and mclaren looking like they'll do reasonably well.

Bottas finding his speed but Hamilton can't find it, his fast lap is so far down.

Hamilton is a really great driver, I can't imagine that with both drivers struggling badly that they wouldn't both have made the same changes to get back into it but Hamilton's car is just no where near gripping where it should. Definitely makes me think something is wrong that they haven't worked out yet.
