This would be infinitely less tedious if the race direction plans/processes were updated via the broadcast graphics so you at least knew if they were planning on checking the track any time soon for example

They are checking the track continually.
Marshalls are on the radio to track control continuously.
No point in sending out safety car if its bleeding obvious there are massive puddles all over the place.

There’s been about as much overtaking so far as a dry Monaco anyways so I guess we’re not really losing out.

They'll do a bunch of laps behind the safety car (always about 3 too many) then they'll all come in for inters immediately and half of each team will get shafted by either stacking or staying out another lap!
