Monetary gift/present for house cleaner at Christmas?

I live by myself and have a cleaner once a month for 3 hours for a deep clean as I hate doing it :p.

As soon as I found one I liked, I just book them directly, not through the agency, better for both.

He only charges £15/hr so I always give a £10 or £15 tip every time, think that's enough of a Xmas present :D.

We always give chocolates, bottle of fizz and a card. She will give us some Ferrero Rocher. Good cleaners are gold. We pay more than min wage though you monsters. Giving an annual payrise is much fairer.

I reckon you lads deserve a nice tipple tbh. We've not had a "post in here to get banned" thread for quite some time.
Yeah we love that
There should probably be a mods night out fund, where we all chuck a few pence into the hat for the suffering they endure from us plebs.
Seriously, who’d do that job for free?

OP I generally just put £50 in a card for her. It’s a tough job for low pay.
they must be raking it in during Christmas if all of their customers are as generous as you.

I'd imagine £20 is more than generous, unless your living in a mansion and not a 4bed semi detached or whatever.

Cleaners get minimum wage(unless self employed) for the most unrewarding of jobs, fair play to them.

And that's a problem why exactly?

Averaged out over the year, it's still probably a hell of a lot less than many people take home, and it's a hard, and not exactly pleasant job!

If she goes above and beyond as the OP says, then a small gift at Christmas seems entirely reasonable.

I wouldn't bother with vouchers/food/drink, unless you have a very good idea of what she likes, but cash in a card is always going to be welcome.

Also, another vote for french maid outfit! :p

Did I say it's a problem? although it becomes one is £50 tips for someone who does a couple of hours of work a week becomes the normal and expected amount .

so are many other jobs. people act like it's the worst job in the world, I can think of thousands of worse jobs.

but if you wanna tip 50 then do it... I doubt a lot of people who hire a cleaner for a few hours a week can really afford it around Christmas

Clearly these sorts of thread should only be for SC considering the amount of deletions.

GD used to be fun ffs.

Edit: if you know your cleaner and their interests, then something that aligns with that could be a winner.

We usually give ours a box of chocolates. We go for paying them directly, I wasn't much impressed with the service from an agency when we used one and they charged more whilst paying the people doing the work less.
