Monzo/Starling Banking/Revolut

Mind you I'm with Starling too and they allow it I think, ill try them. Odd as I read an article from 2019 that Monzo was in talks with the post office for allowing deposits, nothing seems to have progressed from that.

Message from Starling today, they're doing away with the fee for additional personal and joint GBP accounts from the 21/11.

It's so refreshing to deal with a company where when you get correspondence from them about changes to their service, it's always an improvement, rather than a degrade in the service 'to ensure customer satisfaction' or some such drivel.

That could be a winner for me. Was one of the reasons i wasn't tempted before.

Nice, I wish monzo had virtual cards.

Is that a free feature on starling, or a premium/paid for feature?

Edit: I see monzo do offer them, but on their premium plan.

Virtual cards are handy but I've already found a couple of solutions with Revolut.

Revolut don't do pots or spaces, but they do have the ability to create a physical card linked to the main account that is for under 18s. They get their own card and app and it can all be controlled from the parent app.

I also use the Revolut disposable card facility when making one time purchases online, it auto deletes itself after the purchase is made. I don't think Starling offer that service?

You can delete virtual cards after one purchase if you like and then create another.

I like the automation with Revolut. You get 3 cards:

Physical debit card
Online "virtual" debit card
Online auto deleting, auto regenerating "virtual" debit card

I don't use Revolut too much as they have a historical poor reputation, but when I do it's actually quite a good service.

Starling users now get up to five virtual cards which can be pointed at different spaces. This is going to be very useful!

Oooooo nice. I can now set up a few monthly payments that are card-only coming out of pots :D

Has anyone ever experienced any issues signing up to things using Chase?

I'm trying to sign up to a SIM only deal on Talkmobile, but despite entering details perfectly and having a maximum credit score on Experian, it keeps saying it can't process my order?

I was looking at SIM only deals a couple of months ago (went with Smarty and unless you're inside a tent, good luck getting signal indoors) and tried to process a SIM order with iD mobile and had the exact same issue.

Talkmobile webchat was useless, asked me if I was entering my details correctly and if I entered the details on my card correctly, when the site doesn't even ask for card details - it's account and sort number for Direct Debit. The agent's final suggestion was to use a different account...

Wow the Chase support messaging section of the app is hard work, the IME kept lagging with input. I kept having to leave the chat page and rejoin!

Apparently it's because the merchant hasn't updated their systems to recognise Chase sort codes.

"Definitely Mark. We will get in touch with the merchant/service user but it is the service user's responsibility to update their system with the latest EISCD directory updates which is done daily by the scheme."

By the way, anyone who's not currently with Monzo and is keen to try it out. You've go two days left to get the free £10 welcome bonus. After that I think it drops to £5. Referral links of course aren't allow here, but you can easily find them online.

On the subject of digital banks, new bank Kroo is offering 3% current account interest (from Feb), and there's currently a £20 cashback offer if you sign up via TopCashabck. If you aren't already a TopCashabck member then you'll get an extra £10 if someone invites you.

There's already been a few Kroo bank reviews around as the it was previously offering e-money accounts until December last year.

Martin Lewis recently mentioned them on his TV slot the other day, so as you can imagine quite a few are scramming to get the offer.
