My picks

Microsoft Xbox 360:
Gears of War (cover system)

Sony Playstation 3:
Little Big Planet (user generated content)

Nintendo Wii:
Wii Sports (for all the wrong reasons)

Multi-Platform:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Perks)

Personally wouldn't say either had an exclusive which has been very influential... perhaps Gears for 360, but at a stretch.

Actually not even sure there has been a hugely influential cross-platform game this gen. Admittedly I have not played them all though.

Perhaps modern Warfare?

Wii - Wii fit (People raved over getting healthy .. what the hell? but it sold bucket loads)

360 - Gears of War (First 'big' easily accessable TPS on a console, although more testiment to Live being so easy to use on the 360 then the game itself possibly)

PS3 - LBP

Kinda struggled to pick though :X

Happy OCUKers? :P

I hate to pick holes... bah who am I kidding, I'm an OcUKer, poking holes in arguments is what we live for.

There is a relatively unheard of game called Halo which I believe may be the first Big easily accessible FPS on consoles, and that came out last generation

Gears of War isn't even an FPS, it's a TPS (Third Person Shooter)

Yeah yeah i know :P like i said its hard to pick. Okay .. online shooter then?

As i said, Halo 2 was 'big' on the original xbox but it wasnt easily accessable, setting up live was a hastle for most people since it wasnt hard intigrated into the console itself.

Point in - this generation sucked for big influential games, just more of the same. but better.

I really hate the Gears of War cover system as every game now feels as if it needs some variation of it to be good. >_____<

Eh??? Live was integrated into the console, it was just as accessible as it is now really. Main difference was that I don't think you could sign up from the console itself, only via the starter packs.

It influenced a bunch of games this gen. I now can't play any third person shooter game without some sort of cover system.

Actually, I want to use a cover system in every FPS game too now after playing Killzone 2.
