Most Talented Male Singer

I've always considered Bruce Dickinson the best front man a band could ever want. He might not have the best voice in the world, but his sheer charisma makes him an awesomely talented bloke.

David Ford.

Ive been listening to loads of David Ford recently, hes pretty cool.
I wouldnt put him as best male but hes one of the best ive heard in ages.

edit: I would also put Freddie top.

I don't think there is one most talented singer, so many are great for different reasons.

I couldn't argue with Jeff buckley, frank Black, Howie Day, Chris Cornell, or so many others being called great singers, but I would be loathe to say one is BETTER than the others, just better at different things.

In terms of the person who I could listen to for ever... it's Jack Johnson as for the most talented I really have no clue theres such a wide spectrum, Freddie Mercury did pwn though.

I'd have to say Stevie Wonder he has an enormous amount of talent, an amazing voice.. and great songwriting ability.

But yeah its all down to personal preference really.

;)

I guess we are doing popular music otherwise my vote is going on Pavarotti or someone. :p

Its a hard one, I am stuck between Sufjan Stevens, Jonsi and Wayne Coyne as my favourites. But as to talented... god knows.

Wayne Coyne is a great frontman, but a pretty terrible singer :p

Buckley and Cornell had amazing voices, but my absoloute favourite (and hardly a big surprise for anyone who's read almost any of my posts here) would be Ryan Adams - amazing singer and songwriter, his voice is an amazing mix of trembling hurt and stong defiance, coupled with some of the best lyrics of a generation (Leonard Cohen being his predecessor on this count imo).

An honourable mention has to go to Nick Cave

edit: carp, forgot Tom Waits too :o

Good choices, bar Ryan Adams who needs a good kicking for being such a Class A eejit.

Good question.

Most singers suggested in this thread cover one style but do it very well.
For me Rob Halford would take the metal crown, Joey Ramone/Johnny Rotten would take the punk crown, Robert Plant would take the rock crown etc etc.

Thinking about a singer who was able to cover lots of different styles and do them convincingly so those styles were theirs and I've got to pick Freddy Mercury. He was also the best frontman I've ever seen.

Mike Patton, i dont think i know of any other people that can do a lionell ritchie cover and sound note perfect, and also temporarilly front a band like dillinger escape plan!

Freddie Mercury for me.

Superb voice and possibly the finest frontman any band could have wanted.

Possibly the best band of all as well. All 4 members wrote songs that were hits.
