...and still others think it’s the physics of the world seeming to be so real.

Motion sickness is caused by your brain perceiving that the world is moving, but your body is telling your brain it isn’t, so it gets confused
lol :D

Played for about an hour after 'fix' & not felt sick :)

I've never had a problem with FPS games but I could only play Resident Evil 4 for short bursts on the Gamecube before getting a headache and feeling sick.

Anyone else felt ill on a non-FPS?

I have never experienced the problem with games other than FPS, but the other week I installed the Fakefactory Cinematic mod for HL2 and i was experiencing the motion sickness much less, if not at all with some sessions. The last time i felt considerably ill was round a mates where i was the mini gunner in BF2. If anything is going to give you motion sickness, that will!

My mate threw up last week when i put the prey demo on to let him see

He went white within minutes :D Then was very sick indeed :( He can barely look at any fps without this happening

Ive suffered with this for years, have to play in short bursts with plenty of breaks which can prove annoying

First experienced it with the original doom, boy that game made me feel so ill, and also the original wipeout on the playstation.

Newer games like HL2 dont seem to affect me so much, especially since upgrading to an LCD panel which I would seriously recommend

I'm glad I don't get motion sickness from playing videogames...I don't know what I'd do if I did, I loves playing them. :D I know me parents certainly have trouble with it though...me mum hates it when she watches me play an FPS for a minute and I start spinning around stupidly or something, drives her mad. ;)

only game i have had motion sickness from is PGR3, funny thing is it was fine on my 21" crt tv & hillys flat panel tv, but as soon as i played it on a 6ft projector uggghhh worst feeling ever ! :(

Exactly the same problem as the OP so I just never bothered with it...

However there was one game much worse... Turok... if anyone with even a minor case of motion sickness plays this then I'm sure they'll be doing a technicoloured yawn soon afterwards..

I'm okay with some FPS's but recently COD has been making me feel ill - oh well...

HL2 made me feel V ill the first time I played it for more than half an hour. Seemed fine last time I tried though.

I've only ever experienced this with the Prey demo - normally it doesn't bother me at all. The missus can't play FPS games at all tho - she feels ill after just a couple of mins.

I got HL2 the day it was released.. I quickly rushed upstairs to play it on my new build. That game was absolutely horrific for me to play.. I suffered really bad all the way through, and I have been playing FPS games for years on PC. Never before had I experienced motion sickness like it. like I said I did suffer it, wanting to be one of the first to complete it, but I have never reinstalled that game as wish the playing experience would have been more enjoyable and graphically it was awesome.

How do you change the FOV then, do you use a script in the console? or can you change it in the options? Would ike to install that game again... think I might do it now. Would love to do it again without the motion sickness issue!!!

Feel sorry for the peeps with motion sickness :( Fortunately I'm pretty good, and on boats the choppier the better :p And planes :D

hp7909: Always 85hz or above, or the eyestrain will be a killer. Games can run at 60fps thats fine, but make sure you run the monitor itself at 85hz or above.

I'm seriously going to have to play HL2 again now just for this feeling, never noticed it before, but then again I didn't get very far before I stopped (Can't remember why I stopped now either).
