Motion Sickness - Thread

I've used them before yes, they don't cure my problem just get in the way as I said I have an inner ear inbalance. Glasses are not the cure all

surprisingly i dont get sick while playing games atall, despite getting horribly car sick whenever we are going up and down hills. motorways are fine but the hills are a nightmare. predictably trolldad decided the best places for a UK holiday were cornwall and north wales... thanks :(

however, having said that, if i play games inside the car then i will be car sick no matter what the road is like

i also get plane sick during anything but the smoothest landings

When Counter-strike was first out my wife had ago she played for 5 mins then I took over, a hour later I wonder where she was I found her in the bathroom on the floor in the recovery postion. From that day she has never played a computer game this was 10 years ago.

Well my first encounter with motion sickness in game was Spyro the dragon back on the PS1 in the 90's. I did'nt realise then what it was.

I have played a lot of FPS games over the years Cod, Moh, Bf2 and pretty much every other battlefield game along the way including the BF3 beta, totaling thousands of hours played. With not so much as a hiccup. But the first time i really suffered with motion sickness on the PC was half life 2 and i waited a damn long time to play it (it came free with my 9800 radeon), I dont think i ever managed more than 8-10mins played at a time.

Since then I can think of borderland which was unplayable for me, portal 2 which I can cope with(with a supply of chewing gum) + Dues Ex HR but its only minor again the chewing gum seems to help. But still it feels so wrong to be playing a game and have your stomach begin to feeling more and more sick.

If all else fails travel sickness tablets do work.......to a point, though I dont need telling this is a little extreme to be able to play a game

The worst game, by far, was Turok.

HL2 and Prey were bad for me the first time I played it and I eventually changed some settings which made them fine.

Doom series / Serious Sam series / UT series have all been fine for me.

N,

I had an astigmatism, I used to get the worst motion sickness, really anything would set me off.

The original Turok on the N64 was the first time i noticed it, Half Life 2 was probably the worst, things like Left for Dead, Unreal 2 and Stalker were/are unplayable for me.

I had laser eye surgery and it improved but I still do get it, as a whole it put me off playing FPS games. Its usually headbob that does it for me.

edit: just noted the guy two above me mentioned Turok, it was horrific, probably my worst too on a console.

4. Run Zoom, Games like Borderlands have this horrible situation that when you run your entire game screen zooms forward. Some games are worse than others and is very difficult do disable.

Minecraft :( Makes me feel funny if im building and i keep pressing forwards only to get a constant iny outy zoom thing going on

This reads more like epilepsy, which is quite a bit more serious.

Some brighter games can give me issues, and I play games much better when they are in Black and White, unfortunately in Left 4 Dead that's only when you are almost dead!

I have to admit, i didn't actually even know it was possible to get motion sickness from a computer game lol.

So i guess i don't suffer from anything, and i don't get motion sickness when im traveling, nor do i get sea sick or anything like that.
