MotoGP 2012

Marquez can't go to the factory team as they have the rule where rookies now have to do a year in a non factory team (not sure if this includes CRT? would think so) so unless there's a change in the rules he won't be there. Really depends if these bigger teams are gonna retake one of the well known guys back or go for someone new, but it's too early in the season we're only 1/3 of the way through a lot can change!

There's also the question mark of how they change the rules next year to bring the prototypes and CRT's closer together because as it stands we have a two tier grid of racing bikes.

the talk is the rookie rule is being scraped for next year
its not really worked anyway

There was mention of the rule being scrapped. I'd like to see Bradl on the Honda.
he is on a honda just not the repsol one lol

I did read about the comment of the rule being scrapped after I posted :p It doesn't make much sense with the direction things are going, especially seeing as the number of prototypes seems to be going down (unless Suzuki come back) and the number of CRT's going up next year. I hope they balance things out as watching Lorenzo/Stoner followed by the rest isn't hugely entertaining, we need more bikes that are capable of being at the front

to be honest it wont make much difference, look at world superbikes
they have 35 bike grid and its the same guys mainly winning..
in motogp it will be the same 10 or so guys in the top 10 baring crashes
so 30 bikes wont make much difference, the cream will always be at the top

Well the better riders will be at the top if they have a half decent bike underneath them no doubt, but look at WSB 5 out of the 6 manufacturers have won a race so far this season, on the GP grid there's basically 4 bikes capable of winning. The last time a non Repsol Honda or factory Yamaha won was Stoner on the Ducati I believe in 2009.

According to the WSB website there's only 22 riders on the grid, and whist there are the usual names up there most the time they are usually joined by a couple more making it a bit more interesting for us to watch. Personally though I think BSB has it best currently!

i do like wsk but over the last few years its been motoGP rejects that are doing most of the winning there

honda are very powerful and have pushed for this
they want Márquez in the HRC team

Seems very likely. Very possible that Pedrosa is going to be dropped then.

Would love to see what Cal could do on a factory Honda... I'm just dreaming.

More things I would love:

-Rossi not on a Ducati
-More factory teams - (Suzuki pls at least, they were starting to do quite well before they dropped out)
-Ducati to have a ridable bike, one that doesn't ruin careers

Valentino Rossi still the highest paid MotoGP rider

interesting read

Valentino Rossi the only MotoGP rider on the Forbes top 100 Highest Paid Athletes list.

Three motorsport stars feature in the top 20 of the latest Forbes Highest Paid Athletes list - including MotoGP's Valentino Rossi.

Rossi is listed as joint 20th alongside F1 legend Michael Schumacher, with Ferrari F1 star Fernando Alonso the highest ranking motorsport representative, in 19th place.

The Spaniard is quoted as receiving total earnings of $32 million between June 2011 and June 2012, comprising $29 million in Salary/winnings plus $3 million in endorsements.

Rossi and Mercedes driver Schumacher are said to have made $30 million during the same period.

Forbes claims that Rossi's Ducati contract pays him $17 million annually and that the former seven time MotoGP champion, who has struggled since leaving Yamaha in 2010, made a further $13 million in endorsements.

Rossi has taken two podiums since joining Ducati, while Schumacher has yet to feature on the rostrum since his 2010 F1 return.

The top earning NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr, was ranked 23rd with earnings of $28.2 million. Then came McLaren F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, in joint 24th with $28 million.

After Hamilton, there were no other F1 or MotoGP stars in the top 100, which required a minimum income of $16.6 million.

So that's Marquez to Repsol Honda then. Didn't they say they didn't want two Spanish riders?
Wonder who'll get Dany's seat if he goes.

Moto 3 on now.
