MotoGP 2012

Anyone going to be at silverstone this coming weekend? Myself and the GF will be there, camping on the silverstone campsite :)

I will be.

I'm racing supermoto at the Stowe circuit, but get free passes to watch the Moto GP too.:D

Might just ride Friday and Saturday though, and miss my race to watch the Moto GP. Never seen one before.

i missed his crash, doesn't seem to be online either yet. hope he is ok

it happened in morning practice
he first thought it was just a sprain but it got worse so went to hospital to get it checked before quali started
still no news yet

update
"Cal Crutchlow aims to try and salvage something from the British MotoGP weekend by taking part in Sunday's race.

Pending medical clearance, the Englishman will be able to line-up at the back of the 20-rider grid despite missing qualifying due to an ankle injury in an out-lap fall in Saturday morning practice.

After initial checks in the Silverstone Circuit Medical Centre, Crutchlow was transferred to hospital in Oxford.

Extensive analysis of scans confirmed the former World Supersport champion hasn't suffered any fractures and he is already able to put weight on his left foot after doctors reduced the swelling around his heel and ankle.

Crutchlow will undergo a further detailed assessment with Silverstone medics tomorrow morning, but the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team is optimistic that he will be given clearance to start the 20-lap race.

“We are very optimistic that Cal will be able to participate in the British Grand Prix tomorrow,” said team manager Herve Poncharal. “The medical staff in Oxford said he should be fine to race and he has no broken bones in the foot or ankle. That is a big relief because Cal was in quite a lot of pain.

“He will now undertake the necessary checks with the Silverstone medics in the morning, but it looks very positive. We obviously hope he will be able to ride after the disappointment of last year when he was unable to start the race because he was injured.

“I know what it means for him to race in front of his home crowd, who have given Cal and the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team unbelievable support this weekend.”

Crutchlow missed last year's race due to a broken collarbone in qualifying, meaning Sunday should be his first Silverstone grand prix start.

Crutchlow's pace in practice means he is eligible to start despite skipping qualifying and, even if all ten other manufacturer bikes finish, he will score five points just by beating the privateer CRT riders."

Awesome race from Cal. Bust foot, no quali, last to 6th.:D

(and a non finish for Dovi is good for his championship)

I can see him taking over from Spies next year or possibly moving over to Honda with Pedrosa, I think he just needs a win or two this year to really finalise a deal for next year.

He is something special, and we need it.:D

Great ride by Cal considering the circumstances, just a shame as what it could have been! Lorenzo seems to be pretty unstoppable on the M1, guess there's a few people eying up Spies seat next year would be good to see Cal get it

Cal stands out to me for Spies' seat, I'm sure there are other candidates but he really stands out from everyone.

Can't see Rossi going back to Yamaha while Lorenzo is there and Honda is really out of the question after the way he left them for Yamaha, Pedrosa will be number one at Honda next year with Stoner retiring, Maybe Hayden back at Honda or over to Yamaha?

Everybody else seems pretty much set to stay unless someone comes from nowhere to take the second Yamaha seat, of course this is all guess work based on the fact that Spies has been **** this year and not really the wonder kid people thought.

honda have said if Rossi wants a Honda he will have to go to a satellite team
repsol team dont want him,
Pedrosa will be out if Márquez goes to repsol HRC, honda are asking for the rookie rule to be scraped and they wont want 2 Spanish guys in the same team
Pedrosa been in the team 6 years and still not won the world title, its the repsol money keeping him there which will stay if Márquez goes to them

Maybe Marquez at repsol, Pedrosa in at Gresini?

Respol kind of require one Spanish rider but, yeah they'll never have two, I thought Pedrosa was a given since Lorenzo will stay at Yamaha and had admitted speaking to Honda...

As for Dovisioso and Cal, it is very close between them, but after today's performance by Cal I can see him stepping up and winning a race this year, thus (hopefully) securing Spies seat...

Marquez can't go to the factory team as they have the rule where rookies now have to do a year in a non factory team (not sure if this includes CRT? would think so) so unless there's a change in the rules he won't be there. Really depends if these bigger teams are gonna retake one of the well known guys back or go for someone new, but it's too early in the season we're only 1/3 of the way through a lot can change!

There's also the question mark of how they change the rules next year to bring the prototypes and CRT's closer together because as it stands we have a two tier grid of racing bikes.

Marquez going to Honda is if Honda can get the rookie rule scrapped, I hope they don't get their way.
