I can't help but think you'd be quicker if you were a little less happy with the loud pedal :p

Although I did only watch the last vid due to being at work

Hi there

Had an awesome track day at Donnington yesterday even though it was very wet, almost a river running across the old hair pin. So my gamble of leaving the cup tyres on hoping it would dry it did not pay off as it was very wet and never did dry out. Anyway some videos:-

My mate came in his EVO who was determined to be faster than me in the wet because our last visit to Donnington was in the dry and he could not keep up, so he was hoping the wet would turn the tables, so watch the battle here:-

EVO vs 911 Part 1

EVO vs 911 Part 2

EVO vs 911 Part 3

EVO vs 911 Part 4

As you can see we were very closely matched in the wet, when he let me pass after 5 laps I'd only manage to pull away by the full length of the pit straight, so not much but definetely quicker just. His car is an EVO 8 FQ-400. On the PSS I'd have pulled away even more as the cups were lacking for outright grip in such conditions, but their feedback was superb and hence I could drive so close to the limits and the cars balance was perfect.

Had a great fight with an R34 GTR Vspec as well running big horsepower, but again through the corners and under breaking I was quicker, I was about to him let pass but then he lost it and slowed down.

So yeah it felt good yesterday to drive a RWD car on cups in a tidy manner and show how the 4WD boys how it's done, though it took immense concentration, so how the F1 drivers do it for 2hr solid is some achievement as after 30-40 minutes I was feeling frazzled.

That GTR

What was up with the gears? Wasnt the previous record just over 200 from that RUF 911 thing?

Yeah, the GTR has a custom gearset in it to allow it to get to a max of 240 but there is issues with the programming of it which meant they couldn't shift into 6th from the top of 5th, something with vehicle speed and sensors or whatever, so the only way to get into 6th was to short shift which meant it took ages to get up to speed.

took ages JP? i must have watched a different video ;)

As for 228mph vs 240mph, it had to pull all the way from low revs in 6th, with full beans in the lower gears, ive got a feeling it might get close as it was only 12mph short (unless its top speed is rev limited)

It won't do 240 at VMax, it will need more power than it has now I believe.

Yeah sorry I meant the gears can do 240.
It could indeed do with some more power, its only running modified oem housing turbos to retain almost stock spool characteristics. SVM GT950 Turbos

If they fit some big ones and sort the shifting out I think it will go quite a bit faster.

Not quite true unfortunately. I got quicker as I gained the confidence to just floor it and let it dig in. The surface is so slippery that turning in under little or no power resulted in pushing wide, slowing me down. Turning in then applying power made it under steer then snap into a big slide. Turning in and immediately on the power resulted in a lovely long sideways act with a small angle. Took a lot for me to have the guts to do it. I think I could have shaved a lot lot more time off given a few more runs. Fantastic fun nonetheless!
