IMO, Nissan will buy a majority share in RBR when Red Bull decide to sell up.

Also, Lol at 'elderly fan' :D

you mean Renault :) they are the majority shareholder of Nissan. BTW Renault sold their team to Lotus, so doubtful they would buy a team in the next few years. Also what makes you think RBR want to sell ?

If this place is going to go all 'Pedantry Central™' again (why should today be any different, eh?) then I should point out that Renault sold 75% of the shares in the team to Genii Capital. Not Lotus. Genii Capital then got into bed with Group Lotus, and by the looks of the financial situation at the team basically only got us the 'Lotus F1 Team' name and the hilarity of Dany Bahahahahahahar's self-destruction out of it.

The Infiniti deal shows an interest from Nissan/Renault. If RBR want out I imagine they would be at the top of the calling list.

Lotus Cars was a sponsorship deal, nothing more. The 'Lotus' name in the team occupies the same place as the 'Vodafone' in McLaren.

But Lotus never paid up, and have had zero connection to the team since early 2012. Genii have just kept the name, much like the did with Renault for a few years. Genii bought the remaining 25% off of Renault back in about 2010-ish, yet ran with the Renault name through 2011.

The Lotus name was just a sponsorship deal with naming rights from the sportscar manufacturer, Group Lotus being owned by Proton's parent company (of whome I can't recall the full name). They're not related to Team Lotus in any way, hence the popular Fauxtus nickname.

May as well rename the team Toleman. ;)

Another victim of Dany Bahahahahaha.

DRB-Hicom

And there is still some connection between the f1 team and group lotus even if there's no money changing hands, Kimi came to visit the week before the british gp and we have one of the show cars in reception
