It'll be a fine if the FIA want to keep Mateschitz (relatively) happy. A ban or two if they DGAF what he thinks.

Personally I think it'll just be the result upheld and a ban suspended over a few races for a similar infringement. They've not tried to con the FIA, as it was all done very openly, and he got disqualified, so I doubt there'll be any further punishment.

Presumably Mercedes felt that the I4 turbo was even less relevant to them than the NA V8 in the context of F1

True, but the V6 has to be the worst option of the 3? At least Mercedes make road cars with both NA V8s and turbo I4s.

They had also started R&D on the turbo I4 before it was canned. As some basic tech has made its way to their road cars already.

I just heard from a mate who works in Nascar and he said Haas won't come to F1 till 2016 and he will have the Honda engine

How true it is I don't know but it sounds about right to me.

The 2016 bit sounds sensible. Even for a team with the racing experience they have, producing an F1 car in 9 months is a tall ask.

What annoys me about this is that FIA knew about it during the race, but they still let Ricciardo go on the podium, give him trophy only to take it all from him a little bit later. It's so unfair on the driver. IMO they should have given RBR 50 points penalty/ exlude them from construction champinship but give Ricciardo his place back.
