Motorsport Off Topic Thread

Going by the picture in the article, I'd say this Info Wing thing doesn't work.

Can't see anything on it.

Displaying tyre information is a little pointless I guess as you'll see from the tyre, but I think displaying the car's position could be good for those at the GP when it's not as easy to keep track of the overtakes.

I wonder if Rosbergs issues on Sunday had anything to do with the radio messages rule being canned? Ted mentioned that there was lots of conversations happening that broke the rules, yet nothing was done.
It was just driver coaching which was banned this year though, wasn't it? Things like "Lewis is gaining time in turns 4 and 5 and braking later into turn 8".

It's probably a good thing that the rules are being scrapped, but I'm a little disappointed that we'll be hearing all sorts of coded radio messages that none of us will have a clue as to what they do. The magic buttons and so on were a fun novelty for a couple of races, but after that they just got silly.

Also the radio restrictions have apparently been canned.

Well done to the FIA. Introducing a rule change mid year again and then canning it at the end of the year.... So it was all pointless.

To be fair they probably realized it was completely unenforceable.

Hulkenberg confirmed to race in Le Mans next year in the Porsche 919, alongside FI seat of course.
He's also doing the six hours at Spa.

Heard rumours of Alonso doing similar, but I don't think that has been confirmed.
WEC is looking more and more interesting by the week.

Now that I didn't see coming. Porsche went against their original statement saying the 3 drivers in that car would come from in house.

Good on him. Interesting reading that the last person to double dip F1 and Le Mans in the same year was Buemi, and it's turned out alright for him.

Looked a big hit for Webber in the WEC, apparently he has given the thumbs up from the stretcher though.

The other Porsche went on the take the win behind the safety car, enjoyable final race!

Reports he is accepting visitors but is being kept in hospital for checks.

In other news Ford Australia to pull out of V8 Supercars

Ford Australia have announced they will pull out of V8 Supercars at the end of the 2015 season.

Ford confirmed on Monday they would provide support to teams racing Falcons next year, but would not renew any funding from 2016.

A major blow for the V8s!

I wonder why? Is it like the Subaru/Mitsubishi rivalry in WRC, and the world has moved on and doesn't really care any more?

The series should be fine though, they still have Holden, Nissan, Volvo and Mercedes.
