It's got nothing to do with colour, there have been other black people win sports personality. I think that's a terrible article. Pop star girlfriend and celebrity lifestyle and then comparing him to beckham. Most people feel distanced from F1 because it's a sport where the best car wins. Beckham couldn't pull on a pair of boots that have him a 20% more ability than the rest of his peers. Lennox Lewis couldn't put on gloves that allowed him to hit 10% harder than anyone else and Linford Christie couldn't stick on spikes that made him faster (drugs is another issue

but no one knew that at the time).
I think pedalling the black line in this day and age is just trying to gloss over the real issues he's not popular. Similar to reasons people might not like Alonso at his worst or Vettel. I was talking to a guy at work who got to meet Lewis and JB at Mclaren. He is a huge Lewis fan but said Lewis was devoid of any personality and awkward. Where JB was much more happy to talk and mingle with fans and sign autographs, joke around.
Is this any less popular than JB's title and he is white. JB was pretty damn hated on here. Even though his car was not as dominant we still get the lucky comments and anyone could win in that car. I think the excitement for JB's title in the media was also because of Brawn and the jobs it saved. A real turnaround. Where Lewis has won in a car that could have won the title if he'd started from the back every race.
Anyway, he has had good press from Moss
Meanwhile, fellow Briton Sir Stirling Moss, widely regarded as the greatest driver never to win a world title, said
Hamilton's performance made him a better driver than seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
"It was a wonderful result for the guy who deserved it," Moss told BBC Radio 5 live. "I'd put him above Schumacher.
I mean Schumacher just happened to win a lot of titles, but he wasn't as quick."
The right man won the title, I have never warmed to him but it's got sod all to do with his colour.
Ultimately, Lewis deserves recognition because his success goes far beyond sport itself. But if he never gains national acceptance through the sports personality vote, it will say more about Britain than about him.
What utter drivel.
but Mo Farah didn’t even make the top three in the BBC awards in either 2012, when he was double Olympic champion,– or 2013, when he was double world champion.
Boohoo, he lost out to Wiggins, Ennis and Murray in a very tough year and Murray after winning Wimbledon in 2013.
In short I don't think his colour has anything to do with it
