Other than the nose, what's actually changing in terms of chassis design for next years regs?

But I agree, with no Marussia, what's the point? They will be on their own at the back so far off the pace nobody cares.

Have just seen the Webber crash, lucky to have survived that. Take it as an omen and walk away.

Considering Webber has been upside down at 200mph on the Mulsane straight, pointing skywards after launching off a Caterham, and actually hit that exact wall hard before, I don't think one shunt is going to make him walk away from WEC.

Today's addition to my "list of cool things I never knew" is that the banking at Monza is still used for competitive motorsport!

The Monza Rally uses it as part of stages! This year won by Kubica, beating Rossi and Block!

There's a video on Youtube onboard with Rossi from last year's event. It barely uses the banking, rather the base of the it. It's basically squirt, double-hairpin chicane, squirt, repeat until back at the current S/F line.

Can't post it here as Youtube is blocked at work, but it'll be an easy find.

Heard rumours of Alonso doing similar, but I don't think that has been confirmed.
WEC is looking more and more interesting by the week.

It certainly is, the last race showed just how close the teams can be and that you will get racing over the whole time period. Bring on 2015! :D

Well they are pretty limited by what they can do when using an F1 track as rally stages, but I just think it's cool that its still used for racing. Better than Brooklands, which is now a housing estate and Tesco car park :(.

They've raced around Brooklands as recently as 2009. OK, it was James May running Scalextric around the full length of the original track, but still. :p

Good episode.

Let's be fair, Mercedes lack of actions are also self-interest, and if Honda's engine was to come in with a 50hp advantage and started beating Mercedes regularly, I'm guessing their stance would change pretty sharpish too.

As I understand it, it is an issue for everyone, as they could take the engines entirely out of homologation at the end of 2015 and all of them start from scratch if they wanted, with the costs exploding once more. It only takes a majority vote for this to happen, so Mercedes are powerless to stop it.

"where somebody is feeling that he’s not on top of the heap at the moment, therefore the rules are all wrong. I don’t remember that happening before."

Wow how does someone with that bad a memory get so far in F1 :D

Yeah a pretty odd statement. Almost every complaint about the rules by a team boss ever in the history of F1 has spurred from them not winning. You never see the WCC complaining :p

Horners suggestion is still retarded though.

The main thing is the minimum weight of car & driver is going up 10Kg to 701kg, which was supposedly introduced so taller drivers such as JB and Hulk were no longer unfairly disadvantaged and didn't have to live on a starvation diet. For most teams chassis that will be mostly made up of movable ballast, but there could be restrictions on that, in terms of where it can be added or something similar.

Anyone seen any mockups or 'artists impressions' of the 2015 noses? I have to say it was a pretty poor year for good looking cars; the ferrari in particular was a minger. The Red Bull was by far the looker...
