Motorsport Off Topic Thread

The CORE Autosport LMPC that dominated the class for 99% of the race crashes and bursts into flames in the last 20 minutes. Talk about a dramatic twist.

Only problem is with that, the awful quality of the channel picture :( but the stream is jumpy and skipping so motors it is.

Figured it was just my PC that was skipping every 6-7 seconds. HD is nice, but not nice enough to put up with that.

So yeah, back to Motors TV. Had it on most of the day in the background while doing other stuff.

Teds Notebook part 2 shows the development of the Mexico circuit.

Damn, they've really ruined that track. That's even worse than what was done to Hockenheim :(

Is there a genuine (i.e. no hand-wringing about safety) reason why they couldn't have kept the Peraltada intact? These are supposed to be the best drivers in the world in the best racing cars in the world, can they not be trusted with anything remotely challenging these days?

Actually, looking at Maldonado....fair enough, safer for all concerned if we just forget about the old Peraltada and make it nice and slow for him! :p

The combination of zero runoff and a blind corner meant its a no brainer for them to avoid it. Even CART, a series happy to chuck a few concrete barriers on an airfield and call it a track, avoided using it.

Nerfing all the curves in the track to replace with stupid micky mouse 90 degree switchbacks and an acre of tarmac is retarded though. The stadium section is particularly awful.

Amusingly enough, Nascar ran the original course while the Busch series was in Mexico. Though their cars only reached 100mph on the Peraltada.

LOL, handles like a hippo on land!

EDIT : No run off at the Peraltada in the NASCAR clip - just a concrete wall, with grandstands behind it!

Silverstone are going to release 1000 General Admission (Sunday) tickets for £99 from tomorrow morning. First come, first served.

What are we thinking, decent value?

Spa weekend tickets are still on Early Bird offer, £85 for a weekend ticket!

Silverstone is great, but unfortunately the money they spent improving the facilities in order to retain the GP is now having to be recouped through high ticket prices. When I first went to Silverstone back in about 2005 it was something like £130 for a weekend GA, and you could view from anywhere on about 75% of the track.
