Front engined! When they said they were going to do something unique with the GT-R LM I don't think anyone expected a front engine.

While I used to love the Panoz cars, you have to wonder if this iis ultimately a marketting folly? After all, if front engines were better than rear everyone in P1 would be doing it.

Its going to make P1 pretty epic though. 4 big names with 4 very different cars!

Rumoured to be FWD too!

From the engine, with the rear powered by the energy recovery, though that couldn't last for a full lap, so...

It's unique anyway. LMP1 is leaving F1 for dead at the moment, and I don't think F1 is in particularly poor health (despite the complaining).

McLaren have signed a sponsorship deal with news network CNN International for the 2015 season and beyond.

The new multi-year partnership will see CNN logos appear on the front-wing endplates of the new McLaren-Honda MP4-30, which will be launched online on January 29.

“There is an inherent symmetry between McLaren and CNN that makes us perfectly attuned for partnership," McLaren CEO Ron Dennis said.

"Like McLaren, CNN is a tremendously powerful and influential global network, one that has spent decades pioneering the latest technologies and techniques in a relentless, unforgiving, fast-paced environment. I think we understand each other on many levels.

“Equally, we’ve each based a deep-rooted culture of success on our core values - our belief in the strength of teamwork and technology - yet our flexibility and dynamism permit us to move seamlessly and effortlessly in order further to push the boundaries of technology and exploration.

“The partnership between McLaren and CNN is unique in that it operates on a very broad scope. Our shared love of technology has united us and together we will pursue new opportunities far beyond the conventional scope of a Formula 1 partnership. I think the executives at CNN are as excited as we are about the potential of this relationship."

Although McLaren have returned to ‘works’ team status for 2015 following their reunion with Honda, the Woking outfit remain without a title sponsor following Vodafone’s departure at the end of 2013. CNN, meanwhile, have recent F1 involvement having been associated with Caterham.

I wonder what the colour of the CNN logo is... oh yeah, red and white :D

I think LMP1 regulations prevent that. From what I understand the ICE can only power the rear axel, and the electric motors can power either or both, but it impacts which category of energy usage you are in if you power both.

It may well be 4WD when using full hybrid.

Australian GP, China, Malaysia, Japan and Russia to start earlier this year as a consequence of Bianchi crash.

Just read same news at BBC, how has an official panel decided Jules' accident can be partially blamed on the time of day?

Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for Jules, but the time of day had no direct influence on events as far as I'm aware. The weather, the recovery tractor and Jules losing control of his car for whatever reason caused the horrendous accident, not the lighting levels. If it had been early afternoon, Jules would still have gone off the track and ploughed into the tractor.

Just like I don't blame my accident 13 months ago on it being dark, my accident happened because I could not stop my bike in the wet weather when I became aware that a large vehicle ahead of me was stationary, as I exited a blind bend.

The drivers were saying afterwards that they couldn't see the standing water because of the dark coming in, which while not to blame in itself, could be deemed a contributing factor.
