It certainly seems that way :(. Be interesting but they aren't being stopped from manufacturing, using or selling them. Just no one will buy.

If it does go to single engine. Ill be off. Already going to get the season pass for WEC next year and there's a big reason only follow one sport. It takes up a lot of time.
 
So are they vetoing the cost cap on the 1.6L V6s, or the cheap 2017 engines? Autosport says they did the former, and the 2017 engine is the FIAs alternative approach in response to being blocked. Sauber are against a 2017 cheap engine too according to Autosport.

Ferrari voted down the cost cap of the 1.6L current format.

AFAIK Sauber have no say in 2017's rules - they're not in the strategy group and the FIA can put in whatever rules they want in any case. Ferrari are the only ones who can block this move.
 
Yes, but Sauber are the kind of team the FIA are trying to save costs for. If they aren't interested you have to wonder what the point in the 2017 low cost engine is?

Bottom line, nothing will happen. It can't. F1 is not governed in a way that allows change. They will just stubbornly argue their way into destroying the sport.

I expect their is some laws preventing constructing a situation designed to prevent someone selling a product. Competition law won't look to kindly on the FIA constructing engine rules that mean the only viable option is their own spec engine.
 
It would also destroy haas and manor with their tie ups.

More likely they meet somewhere in the middle like 18million or nothing happens at all and carry on like next year.
 
Er, 12m euros. No wonder the manufacturers are against it. The V8s they were building for almost a decade and could bosh out with their eyes closed were 8m. Considering the half billion quid these V6s have cost to develop. Getting 4m a year more per customer than the V8s is too low.

Engines cost money. Just accept it and move on.
 
As I have said many times, this is what happens when you base rules on what a select bunch of manufacturers want. Make it great and they will come, make it dependent on them and they will get bored or price the others out.
 
Why do red bull want a honda engine? Not like its got rave reviews is it!?

Because:

A: Ferrari only want to give them a spec B
B: Mercedes don't want to give them an engine
C: They don't want to look like a bunch of minkys crawling back to Renault :D:o:p

Although i doubt big Ron will go for Honda supplying them engines...
 
So it looks like RBR are being forced out of the sport.

Renault don't want to supply anyone other than their own team.
Mercedes has been blocked by Daimler.
Ferrari will only supply STR, a supply to RBR has been blocked by Ferrari SpA bosses.
A Honda deal is being blocked by McLaren.

Sad times for F1 ahead.

I get A and B but they should just swallow their pride and go with C... the Renault engine is probably going to be stronger then the Honda next year anyway?
 
RBR to sit out next season then come back with the Todt Value Spec Chevy engine for 2017? :D

Didn't Cosworth design a V6T Hybrid as an initial concept? Probably still better than the LoLnda.
 
Mateschitz and Horner completely brought this situation on themselves with their stupid antics of publicly shaming Renault. Fair enough, the engine wasn't up to the level needed but to spout that vitriol isn't going to make any other engine supplier want to work with them.

They made their bed.
 
Red Bull are forcing themselves out of the sport. They did have an option - Renault who, let's not forget, do not yet own a team - but they have turned their backs on it.

Teams do not give consideration to the wider picture of the success of F1 when making decisions like this. McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes do not care if Red Bull withdraw - in fact they'd probably welcome it along with the opportunity to hire some of the talent that will become available.

Red Bull are the authors of their destiny and, for them, it has become a tragedy.

Well, you would have thought so but i doubt Renault will want to tie up with them again after how they've been with them... I also don't blame Mercedes and Ferrari for not wanting to supply them because to be honest, they will probably get beaten! :o
