He's trying to keep McLaren on their toes to get a good deal, but now that the RBR seat is filled his biggest item of leverage is gone, so I think its all just going to be a pointless bit of dancing around each other until Hamilton signs for another few years with McLaren anyway.

He's always said that he wants to be in a car that can win every race, and in terms of the choices he has, McLaren is the best bet.

He might get a 1 year deal and hope Webber retires in 2013. But I firmly believe he is going to sign a 3 year deal with McLaren.

Yeah I feel he'll stick with Mclaren too, hope so anyway!

Comments from Andrea Stella who has been race engineer for Schumi, Kimi and Alonso currently.

Getting back to that Valencia podium for a moment, it seemed logical to quiz Stella for a quick appraisal of “his” three drivers. “Michael is a great racer, very strong in the race and very strong in the way he controlled the rear end of the car. He was very talented in this respect, even if he could be a bit too aggressive sometimes in the races. Kimi was very, very quick when the car was operating in a certain window. In this situation he can be the fastest, although when the car was not in that window, he had to work harder to find the optimal point with the car. And with Fernando, his strong point is that, basically, he does not have weak points! He is strong as a driver in the car in all conditions, from dry to extreme wet and outside the car, he is very consistent and strong mentally, which is very important in modern Formula 1.”

He has worked with some great drivers :)

A German magazine is reporting that FIA president Jean Todt wants Michelin to consider returning to formula one.

Pirelli's three-year contract as the sport's official sole supplier ends next season, with boss Paul Hembery indicating that an extension is not guaranteed.

Replying to a direct question on Twitter about Pirelli's plans for F1 beyond 2013, Hembery said recently: "If they (F1) want us and if the economy stays sane, yes (we will stay)."

Michelin, however, has said previously that it would only consider coming back to F1 - where it competed with Bridgestone between 2001 and 2006 - if the sport ends its current single-supplier rule.

With a single neat soundbite, Michael Schumacher on Wednesday renewed his criticism of Pirelli and called for a new tyre war in F1.
The German publication Auto Bild this week mentioned the rumour that FIA president and Frenchman Jean Todt would like to see Michelin return to the sport.
But the French tyre marque has stated categorically that it would only come back if the rules are changed to allow tyre makers to compete against one another again.
During the FOTA fan's forum in Stuttgart on Wednesday, seven time world champion Schumacher admitted he too would like to see a tyre war once again.

Why?

"Because then we would have decent tyres," the 43-year-old German is quoted as saying.
Earlier this season, Schumacher likened Pirelli's 2012 product to driving "on raw eggs".

Seems F1 does like to go round in circles so I imagine a tyre war could happen again soon, then maybe even re-fuelling will return, only for them both to be gone again :D

Sorry guys, not quite up to the level of skill and speed in the other videos in here but I managed my first ever sub 60s lap of Knockhill in the Corrado at the weekend.

Feel free to waste 90 seconds of your life:

Because then he hopes that Mercedes could convince Michelin or Pirelli to make tyres that suit the mercedes and he'd have an advantage like Ferrari and Bridgestone did.

If he's serious then he could easily go to Continental and tell them he'd be their brand advertiser and star in all their adverts for free if they came in.

It could work, but i don't think Pirelli would have the stomach for it or could afford it. If they had limited opportunities to supply different tyres or change the construction (safety changes aside) it could work but to have the tyres that can be changed anytime Pirelli or Michelin wish could escalate out of control and I think Pirelli would leave, either for cost reasons, competition reasons or, most probably, both. Then Michelin would leave as they've consistently said they aren't interested in control tyre series.

I'm not sure they did? Do you have proof?

Ferrari were Bridgestone's development partner and they drove the development of the tyres in a way that complimented the car. you just need to look at the other teams that used bridgestones. All the other teams knew that they couldn't affect the development of the tyres while Ferrari had preferred status. Michelin listened to ALL the teams and developed them thanks to every team.

Course they did, Williams even assisted McLaren in getting the tyres to work when they switched to Michelin, although Sir Frank said he would never do that again when Ron signed JPM behind his back (like he did with Senna)

Michelin wanted to win, and Williams was their top team to do so.
