Not specifically a display run, but I remember Pizzonia taking a couple of journalists around Barcelona in a S-Type Jaguar and, completely forgetting he wasn't driving his F1 car, entered the first corner at about 120 and rolled the car multiple times into the barriers.has anyone else ever crashed during a display run?
just add spike strips instead of coloured kerbAll kerbs in f1 should be like that to stop them cutting them
The fluid switch is not mechanical in any way. Anything mechanical would be against the regs.
Its a 'switch' in that the direction the air exits the pipework varies depending on the speed of the air. 100mph air is still 100mph air, regardless of weather the car is cornering or not.
Fluid switch is actually a pretty poor term for it. Its not a fluid as most people think (liquid), its air, which is treated as a fluid in aerodynamics, and the word 'switch' suggests something mechanical which moves, which isn't the case either. There should be a more fan friendly term for it.
Not if you actually know what a fluid is , but I get your point .

What I love about that video is how the front seat passenger asks Pizzonia if he's OK whilst Pizzonia sits there all stunned wondering what the heck happened and how it happened. Yeah, should be the other way round no Antonio? Not specifically a display run, but I remember Pizzonia taking a couple of journalists around Barcelona in a S-Type Jaguar and, completely forgetting he wasn't driving his F1 car, entered the first corner at about 120 and rolled the car multiple times into the barriers.

If it had been Irvine driving I think helmets wouldn't have been needed. Surprising really that Jaguar didn't insist on a roll cage fitted road car for Pizzonia to drive.Well, no helmets, so he might have smacked his head off the window or wheel or something.
To this day I can't believe the speed he tried to carry into the corner - it's not as though he just misjudged the braking point a bit - he's going 30-40mph too fast!
