So, the FIA/ACO want to unify GT regulations for a single GT class in the near future ...

Personally I'm all for this. Yes, this was probably only proposed in response to the massive takeup of GT3 series, but I can't see a unified set of regulations potentially across the globe as a bad thing. Hopefully this opens up international GT series to many more participants.

It will be interesting to see if the merged Grand-Am/ALMS series will follow the lead on this, or if they will stick to a structure similar to what they would have with GTE and GAGX.

A combined set of regulations for all GT style racing would have a huge and dramatic effect on racer numbers and manufacturers would find it much easier to jump on board. If a Manufacturer has half a dozen potential rac series and could conceivably sell 20-30 cars there's potential to even make a small profit on GT style racers for the lower classes. Although Porsche, Audi and others already make GT racers McLaren, GM, Mercedes Benz, even Lamborghini and possibly Ferrari could be enticed into something like this.

If it means that we can have the variety and volume of cars currently competing in GT3 (and GT1) championships racing at Le Mans, then I'm all for it!

That's mad. What on earth would cause an accident like that
Did he fall asleep and veer left?! It looks a little too early for braking even with it being a truck!

Nah, the steering was working. It was brake failure. You try to kick the back end out in order to attempt a spin, as the vehicle slows down better if it's spinning than if it's just free-wheeling over level(ish) ground.

There was another truck crash at the same track the year before, though he managed to wash off more speed before the inevitable crunch. Excuse the "music".
