Surprised by that move, but guessing he's being given a fair chunk of change that he now commands.

The Laser Tools setup last year was a bit odd. Three identical cars, effectively run by three separate teams on race weekends. Laser Tools for Moffatt, ex-BMR for Sutton and HARD for Boardley.

Pierre's gift was pretty good. As a player myself I'd be happy with that. The book would come in handy too, especially for swearing.

Some of them were real cheapskates.

I'm now trying to think how got missed out since Lewis didn't participate and there's an equal number of drivers.

Llando didn't come across as particularly smart. Good job his family is mega rich, and he can drive.

There's been some great stuff on the F1 YouTube channel over the last few days. The predictions one was good for a giggle.

Lando seems to have very little general knowledge, perhaps that comes from quitting school early to go racing.

Did anyone see the Coulthard interview with Max and Joss?

They both came across better than I expected, of course that's a bit easier when you've just won.

Even more surprisingly for YT, the comments are civilised.

EDIT: Coulthard's potty mouth comes out for last 5 seconds. The previous 49mins are clean. Not sure if the video is allowed now.

What a fascinating interview. I havnt done a lot of research into this, but I had always been under the impression this was a Gordon Murray designed car.

Extended version of the above.

Really interesting video and think the McLaren MP4/4 will run on and on for a while yet. I don't see Gordon Murray doing a video sadly.

Indeed. Though he did say his piece a while back.

Motor Sport said:
“This thing about Steve Nichols being chief designer is the biggest load of rubbish you’ve ever heard,” Murray emphatically told Motor Sport.

“The MP4/4 was not designed by Steve Nichols, I can promise you that. I put him in charge of the monocoque and the front-end while Dave North and I did the rear end, the aerodynamics, and a radical new dry-sump three-shaft gearbox working with Pete Weismann. It was a pretty radical motor car.

“I’d taken the Brabham BT55 drawings with me to McLaren so the basic concept of the MP4/4 was the BT55, with the lay-down driving position, and a far better rear end, with the Honda V6, and then I also designed new front suspension, using a pull rod with a roller and track system. If you look at the two cars together, the BT55 and the MP4/4, you’ll see the design is almost identical.”

Hmm, Masi seems to have been removed from the FIA's organisational chart, and French media are circulating rumours about a deal to sack him agreed with Mercedes (who are, apparently, denying it). Interesting.

Not sure Masi being sacked especially in that fashion this close to the start of the season would be beneficial to the sport. If he were to fall on his sword of his own accord I'd respect that and I believe if he had integrity he'd have done that already. However, if it turns out to be true. I dont like to idea of Mercedes pressuring him to be sacked. I guess we will see in coming weeks.

As much of a farce he made of last year and as much as I dislike his handling and decisions since he took over from Charlie, it leaves a hole that needs to be filled and I dont see who could effectively step up to the plate in time for the start of the season. unless they are going to devolve the role and employ multiple people to handle the job at the race weekends?

If he has been moved on. Yes I'd be happy. as I dont think he was ever the right fit for the job and he has already lost the respect of the teams. I just dont ever see him being the right man. But as I said before I'm not sure this is the right way to go about it.
I'm still unsure if i'm even interested in following F1 next season. I'm eagerly awaiting the outcome of the investigation and what impacts this will have on race direction, regulations and team lobbying. If we see positive changes implemented I'll give it go, if it carries on as we left it in 21, i'm done with it.

Cem Bölükbaşı has landed an F2 seat for next season. Very interesting to see an winning e-Sport driving graduating to real cars. I wonder whether we'll see more of this in the future, maybe even offering a massively cheaper route to the top?
