Hmm, Masi seems to have been removed from the FIA's organisational chart, and French media are circulating rumours about a deal to sack him agreed with Mercedes (who are, apparently, denying it). Interesting.

Admission of guilt right there. Every man and his dog knows he fixed the result intentionally or not. It was only a matter of time really as there was no way he could continue.

FIA inquiry into the events at Abu Dhabi isn't going to be presented until some time later in Feb and decisions announced on 18th of March.

I don't quite understand that. The inquiry shouldn't take more than 10 days really there isn't much to it. A few interviews and and some notes from some lawyers and the jobs done. Then by waiting to announce it on the 18th it's too late to make any changes as the season will be underway the next day.

Yes, Merc should have taken it to court. The contract issue about them doing so preventing them from then competing could be contested too as an unfair term. It's not like the FIA has ruled in its own favour before only to then be overturned by an actual real court of law.

I suspect it's their attempt at playing hardball with Hamilton and Mercedes. Hamilton has said he's not making a decision until he sees the outcome, obviously the longer the fans don't know if Hamilton is racing next year, the more it damages the sport. So, in a silly way it looks the FIA are trying to force his hand into making a decision now, because they know he probably doesn't want to be deciding on the Friday of the first race calendar. Petty, really.

Hamilton will know the outcome way before the start of the season and he will say it is what he wanted. F1 desperately needs the Hamilton Verstappen rivalry to continue, its worth 100s of millions to them.
Imagine last season without one of them, it would have been over about 4 races before the end, Masi and the idiots are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things to Liberty.

Yeah, it's basically the same as the investigation into 'partygate', the result is pre-decided. Presumably in this case it'll be a reiteration that Masi was in the right, the fans/media need to stop thinking the rules are actually rules and maybe with the extra bit of "Masi was overloaded so we're going to reorganise the race control/director setup" to try and appease Merc/Hamilton without outright saying he screwed up which 'taints' Verstappen's title...

It's a joke, and as mentioned it does seem like by holding out on releasing it they're trying to avoid any affects on the season starting.

Has Hamilton actually said that though? Everything is apparent rumours, but the whole situation just stinks.

Yeah, just rumours. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth there. He doesn't need to continue really, and if he has no faith in the sport anymore why would he?

I don't think Hamilton's said a word since the interview in parc ferme over a month ago. It's all been statements from the team.

I suspect the FIA will find themselves with a sticky wicket come the first round.
Other than being at the Palace to accept his Knighthood and then at the factory for Bottas’s farewell shindig he hasn’t said a word on social media in any form AFAIK.
