I thought this was interesting - sorry if its a bit large!
New 2023 Vegas circuit v the 1981 Caesars Palace GP layout....

That is an amazing comparison! Doesn't paint the most flattering picture of Las Vegas, looks like a lot of wasteland!

Hearing the news of this race makes me want to watch the 1981 Clive James documentary again!

The new track looks like a Scalextric track I would have built when I was 10; dodging around furniture! Would have preferred a return to Watkins Glen.

Watkins Glen would require tens of millions in work to the track, the circuit itself and the surrounding infrastructure that it would absolutely ruin all three. It was never going to happen. Road America would be my preference but again too much work required and unfeasible at RA. The only current FIA Grade 1 track in the US not currently used for F1 is Indy Road Course.

I had a crazy dream this morning.

I was coming home and I saw a bunch of people all in Red Bull racing branded clothing, like a pit crew standing outside someones house in the same road. I thought it was odd and then after getting home, there was a knock at my door.

I opened the door and it was the same people, one of them was in a full race suit, helmet and everything and he was kneeling down, and signing his name on some kind of brochure or catalogue that was on my front door step. All the other people were just watching. He stood up, mumbled "It's me", they all turned and walked away.

It was Max.

Then I woke up.

Glad it's not just me who has had a stupid F1-themed dream recently. A week or so back I dreamt that at the last minute the Australian GP was moving to an almost completely different circuit in the same area, with only the area around turn 6 being used by the new track.

Obviously Albert Park has changed a fair bit this year, but I went almost full Kyalami on it!

Malaysia seems the obvious choice, if they could make it work. I hesitate to use 'that part of the world' as the distances are still vast but it seems like a no-brainer.

I think they've been having talks because someone asked the Sepang circuit boss about a F1 return around a week ago and he said this...

Malaysia set to prioritise recovery from the pandemic
"We should look at the big picture holistically, at how F1 can benefit not only the company but also Malaysia in terms of branding, ability to provide employment opportunities, talent development, and others," Azhan Shafriman was quoted as saying by BERNAMA, the Malaysian government news agency.

"So when we pay for the relatively high [F1] organising rights, the return should be high overall, not only from the [circuit] aspect."

BERNAMA added that Azhan Shafriman indicated that he felt Malaysia should prioritise recovery from the pandemic over hosting a Grand Prix.
